Instructor, Work Search Skills And Employment Development Temporary, Part-Time Program Area: Business, Career Development Professional Certificate Program

The candidate for this position will be responsible for face-to-face delivery of the Work Search Skills and Employment Development course. Course curriculum and supplemental materials are available. Course runs October 5, 6 , 11, 12, 18, 19, 20 & 31, 2023 from 9 am to 3 pm; therefore, instructors must be available during these hours.

Reporting to the Program Coordinator, the Instructor is responsible for the delivery and student evaluation of the assigned course as described in the curriculum/course outline. Instructors are responsible for course learning outcomes that reflect the integrated nature of the curriculum.

Key Responsibilities

• Delivers the curriculum in accordance with the course outline
• Administers the Course Evaluation Form by the students according to stated procedures
• Maintains a comprehensive and current knowledge of assigned subject areas
• Evaluates students performance
• Monitors student performance and provides construction feedback to students throughout the duration of the learning process
• Sets and models a high standard of professional behaviour and appropriate appearance
• Input final grades into Langara’s student management system
• Submits reports and records, including final grade breakdown, and attendance registers on time and in accordance with prescribed procedures

Qualifications Required

• Experience in developing course materials
• 15+ years of professional experience directly related to career development practice
• Adult Education Training
• 10+ years teaching experience in similar course or related subject in a post-secondary institution
• Proven knowledge of BC settlement information and local labour market information
• Career Practitioner Certification (CCDP)
• Preferably Master’s Degree in a related field

• Ability to develop and implement new strategies, policies and procedures.
• Ability to communicate effectively with people who have limited English language proficiency.

• Ability to use tact and discretion to deal with or settle complex requests or complaints.
• Strong communication skills, verbal and written.
