About The Role.

The Bridge requires a Temporary Part Time Chef. The Chef prepares and serves meals and oversees the operation and cleanliness of the eating and cooking areas in our facilities. This position works independently and/or in collaboration with the Program Manager and Executive Chef and is responsible for ordering and purchasing food items to meet the needs of the participants.

Position: Temporary Part time 24 hrs/ week until December 31, 2023 (with potential for additional hours)

Compensation: Grid Level 12 $24.04-28.02 per hour, plus applicable shift premiums

• Shift premiums compound- additional $5.00 per hour between 1900hr-0700hr on 2400hr (midnight) Friday – 2400hr (midnight) Sunday
• Evening shift premium – additional $3.00 per hour between 1900hr-0700hr
• Weekend shift premium – additional $2.00 per hour between 2400hr (midnight) Friday – 2400hr (midnight) Sunday

Indirect Compensation

• 1 paid wellness day per year
• Extended Health and Dental benefits after the 3 month probationary period
• Paid sick time which increases with length of service.

• 3 weeks vacation pay which increases with length of service

Qualifications

Education and experience

• Minimum of three years recent, related experience
• An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience or other qualifications determined to be reasonable and relevant to the level of work may be considered.
• Professional Culinary Training Certificate or equivalent experience.

Job Skills And Abilities

• Ability to lift and carry heavy food supplies
• Well-developed interpersonal, oral and written skills.
• Ability to maintain a high standard of cleanliness in accordance with Agency Cleaning Outcome Standards.
• Ability to work independently.
• Good time management.
• Demonstrated teamwork skills.
• Accountable to participant complaints; compliant with nutritional requirements

Other Requirements

• Valid Food safe certificate
• Medical clearance
• WHMIS- preferred
• Preference given to those available weekends
• Criminal record check in accordance with agency policy.
• Proof of Covid 19 Vaccination Required
• Valid First Aid certificate – preferred
• Valid Driver’s License and use of reliable vehicle
