Job Summary

Bonaventure Support Services is a dynamic and expanding social service agency on Vancouver Island. The Community Inclusion Worker establishes and maintains a warm and personal relationship with each person supported and encourages the natural supports and active involvement of family members, friends, and neighbors in each person's life. A key component of this role is to assist individuals in their physical, social, emotional, recreational, economic, educational, and vocational life skill development

Responsibilities

• Work in collaboration with MCFD, CLBC, VIHA, DDMHT, HSCL, Behavior Consultants, etc. and the Bonaventure Leadership team.
• Demonstrate of a high degree of tolerance and respect for a supported individual's unique personality and challenges, while promoting one's dignity and rights.
• Coordinate, implement, and facilitate participation in community-based social, recreational, and vocational activities- empowering individuals to be full citizens of community.
• Adhere to any relevant Legislation and Regulations (Motor Vehicle Act, CLBC, MCFD, CARF, WorkSafe-BC, Employment Standards).
• Uphold the Policies and Procedures of Bonaventure Support Services while modelling our Mission Statement, Values and Code of Ethics.
• Provide support and advocate choice, while assisting individuals in their physical, social, emotional, recreational, economic, educational, and vocational life skill development.
• To support and promote a friendly and effective working relationship with family and team members.
• Assist individuals with the activities of daily living involving their personal and health care, behavioural, nutritional, recreational, social, vocational, educational, and environmental needs as identified in their person-centered plans (PCP).
• Promote positive behavioral intervention strategies, following program approaches in a consistent, competent manner, that will protect themselves and the supported individuals.
• Perform all duties in a safe, efficient manner upholding the health and safety requirements of the program and report any health or safety concerns.

Qualifications

• Preferred formal education (Diploma or Degree, CSW, RCA, SIVA etc.) and/or work experience with persons with diverse-abilities and/or other relevant experience.
• The desire and ability to work with persons with diverse-abilities and demonstrate personal suitability to promote dignity, independence, individuality.
• Must be in good health with the physical ability to carry out the duties of the position and shift responsibilities.
• Ability to stay calm and focused in stressful situations.
• Excellent interpersonal behavior and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently in a sometimes high stress environment.

• Signed Bonaventure Hire Package.
• RCMP Criminal Record Check (Schedule A - Employer will file).
• 3 Reference Letters - (One must be a most recent employer).
• TB Screen.
• Valid First Aid Certificate including CPR.
• Valid BC Class 5 Driver's License.
• Proof of COVID-19 Full Vaccination or Exemption.
• Immunization Records.
• Food Safe Certificate.
• MCFD CRC Hub Screening Review (Employer will file).
• Physician's Declaration.
