A Day In The Life Of
As a member of our team, you will report to the Project Manager. You will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of gasoline and diesel-powered equipment at Defense Supply Center. Your people skills will come in handy and will help you to maintain fantastic professional relationships with your fellow team members and those that we serve.

Benefits And Pay Range

• $28.00 per hour

Responsibilities And Duties

• Cleans, and adjusts parts as needed such as carburetors, magnetos, etc.
• Tests and inspects engine to determine malfunctions and locate missing and broken parts
• Performs preventative maintenance according to preventative maintenance plan and manufacturer's specifications
• Repairs gasoline and/or diesel engines used to power lawn mowers, string trimmers, backpack blowers and similar machines using appropriate tools
• Maintains maintenance records as specified by Project Manager
• Replaces or repairs parts, such as rings and bearings, water pumps, thermostats, gears, solenoids, pistons, valves, crankshafts, etc.
• Maintains stock of manufacturer's recommended spare parts
• Adjusts points, valves, carburetors, distributors, spark plug gaps, using feeler gauges
• Performs routine maintenance on agency vehicles
• Grinds, reams, rebores, and retaps parts to obtain specified clearances, using grinders, taps, reamers, and micrometer

Requirements And Qualifications

• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Valid driver's license
• Ability to do repetitious bending at the waist and kneeling
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
• Thorough knowledge of all tools used for these applications: Hand tools, electric, pneumatic, etc.
• Demonstrated ability to perform repairs, routine maintenance, equipment installation, etc.
• Must perform necessary computer tasks on current agency computer programs
• High school diploma or equivalent
• At least 2 years of experience and ability to operate, troubleshoot and repair commercial lawn equipment
