JOB TITLE: RESIDENTIAL CARE WORKER | #1741

SERVICE AREA: Residential Services

LOCATION: 55B Arlington

START DATE: June 24, 2023

TERM/STATUS: Temporary Part Time (Ending September 30, 2023)

SCHEDULE/HRS: SAT, 16:30-20:30; SUN/MON, 16:00-22:00; TUE/WED, 16:00-20:30 // 25 hours per week

HOURLY WAGE: $23.90 as per collective agreement

The Role

Residential Care Worker (RCW) assists residents to live successfully in residential settings within the community. The position ensures the residents’ physical, emotional, social, recreational, economic, educational, and/or medical needs are met. The RCW assists residents by enhancing their quality of life through activities of daily living. The RCW works both independently and as part of a team, and demonstrates the ability to take initiative and effectively problem solve using sound judgment.

Requirements/Education/Experience

• Valid First Aid/CPR upon start date
• Eligible to work in Canada
• Class 5 Driver’s License and ability to upgrade to unrestricted Class 4 driver's license
• Medical clearance (must be able to perform lifts and transfers of 40 lbs)
• Satisfactory driver's abstract
• Experience in supporting mental health and positive Behavioral Reinforcement preferred.
• Competency in English written and verbal communication
• 1-2 years of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, or related equivalent experience
• Cantonese speaking is preferred
• This position is only open to female applicants.
• Degree or Diploma in area directly related to supporting people with developmental disabilities such as Social Services, Human Services, or Education
• Experience with, or training in, areas of adaptive communication, and community care is an asset
• Criminal record clearance
• This position requires Union membership.
