Director, People and Culture

In this newly created position, the Director, People and Culture is the most senior human resources leader in the company and acts as a key strategic and operational business partner to the CEO and Executive Leadership Team (ELT). The Director will manage the People & Culture team for a company with approximately 150 employees with a North American footprint.


  • Hybrid position; Office is located in Markham, ON, with a 4 day work week


Success in this role requires:

  • Assisting in the formalization of Company values and driving the values and culture of the company through a time of growth and adjustment to a hybrid work environment, creating an engaging work environment
  • Close collaboration with the CFO, CEO and the ELT to provide thought leadership and support the vision and growth of the business
  • Developing and implementing an HR business partner model
  • Recommending and implementing best-in-class programs, processes, and tools to enable the organization to attract and retain high quality employees
  • Management of the People and Culture team and any external vendor partners
  • Leading the organization to improve Company and departmental eNPS scores and the employer brand as reflected on online review platforms such as GlassDoor
  • Managing compensation, benefits, and other people programs and offerings


What it takes

  • Ability to build trust with executive leadership teams and become a strategic business partner across the organization
  • Strong knowledge of employment law, regulation, and best practices in Canada and US
  • Strong business acumen and understanding of the importance of the People Strategy to the achievement of the Company’s overall strategic goals
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity and the ups and downs of an entrepreneurial, growing business
  • Direct management of complex employee relations issues
  • Previous experience being an integral part of the recruitment process for senior-level roles
  • Previous experience as a senior or senior-most People & Culture leader in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
  • Ability to act at a strategic advisory level, but also the ability to “roll up your sleeves”
  • Experience developing and implementing culture, performance management and rewards and recognition programs
