Gis Technician (2 Positions) (Temporary)

Division: Technical Services, Natural Gas Division
Location: Edmonton or Calgary, AB
Duration: Approximately 18 Months
Salary: Starting rate is $40.97 per hour

Reporting to the Supervisor, Mapping & GIS this position is responsible for the maintenance and updating of ATCO's Natural Gas mapping system of record, including the creation of GIS Presentation Mapping products.

What You Get to Do:

• Perform quality control checks of GIS data to ensure data integrity.
• Manage and maintain system files and data to the required standards.
• Other related duties as assigned.
• Assist in the development of GIS system procedures and standards for gas facility input, and the review of new applications and processes.
• Complete work within designated schedules and provide timely feedback when timeframes cannot be met.
• Maintain the connected utility model
• Assist with the verification of data for accuracy, proper work methods, techniques and compliance with applicable standards and specifications.
• Research company records to interpret system information.
• Prepare specialized mapping products as required by various groups.
• Update data in GIS on as-built documents, engineering drawings and information submitted by various internal and external groups.
• Produce, edit, analyze and model data as requested.
• Respond to inquiries and provide information as required.

Qualifications:

• Ability to work independently under tight time constraints with little or no direct supervision.
• Ability to read and understand as-built records.
• Knowledge of industry standards and procedures.
• Solid understanding of ArcGIS Pro or an equivalent GIS application.
• Excellent organizational skills and interpersonal skills along with the ability to express thoughts clearly both verbally and in writing.
• Familiarity with the project process and the ability to effectively manage information from various sources.
• May be required to attain registration with A.S.E.T.
• Diploma in Geomatics Engineering Technology, GIS Technology, or equivalent related courses and experience, from a recognized technical institute.
