Our knowledgeable and fast-paced Production team is looking for a GIS Coordinator located in Western Canada, preferably Edmonton, Calgary, or Langley. The new GIS Coordinator will be responsible for receiving and scheduling work amongst the GIS team and support, coordinate, and mentor junior/intermediate staff. Our ideal candidate should be highly organized, skilled in GIS and able to thrive in a team-focused environment.


What you will do:


  • Data mining and data quality assessment.
  • Work with the Project Managers and CAD Team Leads to organize, prioritize, and coordinate project workload.
  • Compile, manipulate, and refine geographic data from a variety of sources including but not limited to, CAD, field observation, satellite imagery, aerial photographs, and existing maps.
  • Self-check assignments prior to maps being sent to the Project Manager for final approval.
  • Support the GIS Team in the production and maintenance of the maps for the Integrity and Upstream projects.
  • Create quality map products based on established cartographic standards and effective communication practices using GIS.
  • Ensure maps meet client requirements, timelines, and deliverables.
  • Participate in the development of the GIS Standard Operating Procedures and other QMS related policies/procedures related to GIS.
  • Create scripts to make workflow more effective in various environments (Arcade, Python, FME).
  • Assist National Production Manager with identifying staff needs as required.
  • Run analysis on data and created new data layers with data from varied data sources (Lidar, DTM, DSM, Vector, Raster).
  • Import AutoCAD files to ArcPro and retain important associated information and esthetic display.
  • Edit and manipulate existing data for upload to GIS web application; create and edit application created in Arc Online.


What you will bring:


  • Experience with other ESRI software and ArcGIS Online application is an asset.
  • Proficient in the use of Arc Pro (or very proficient in Arc Map with a willingness to learn Arc Pro) is required.
  • Proficient in the use of office computer applications (Word, Excel, Access etc).
  • University Degree in Geomatics, GIS or related discipline, College Post Graduate Diploma or equivalent.
  • Self-motivated and ability to work independently.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • To succeed in this position, you must be highly motivated, flexible, enthusiastic and a team player committed to providing high quality service.
  • Proficient in the use of AutoCAD would be an asset.
  • Previous experience in geomatics, planning or infrastructure is considered an asset.
  • Experience with Python/FME/Programming would be an asset.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in a production environment is required.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and to manage multiple tasks with changing priorities is required.
