This is a great opportunity for motivated and enthusiastic students who are interested in pursing a career in Geography and/or GIS. As a GIS student, you will be given meaningful, productive, and challenging assignments while being introduced to a career in municipal government. In this role the GIS student will support the City of Medicine Hat GIS teams in the collection, quality checking and assurance, validation, and maintenance of geospatial and related data.

• You are effective in communication and analytical skills.
• Possess excellent organizational, time-management and problem-solving skills.

Qualifications

• You will be enrolled in, or a recent graduate of, a post-secondary program in Geography, Geographical Information Systems (GIS), or Planning.
• Python, Feature manipulation Engine (FME), Structured Query Language (SQL) will be considered assets.
• Possess a valid Class 5 Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.
• Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office is required.
• Intermediate proficiency in ESRI products ArcGIS Desktop 10.x, ArcGIS Pro 2.x, is preferred.

Story Maps is a tool found on the City of Medicine Hat website allowing residents and visitors to view stories that showcase various points of interest within the city.
