Reporting to the Quality Assurance Manager, the Laboratory Technician is responsible for ensuring the wheat and flour products quality through lab testing and analysis set within established procedures. This includes the maintenance and documentation of daily lab results and effective coordination with the QA Manager or other department personnel as required.


Your day to day activities will include:


  • Troubleshoot and apply corrective action as needed through quality assurance documentation.
  • Participate as needed in R&D projects.
  • Follow laboratory testing methods and procedures and ensure that they are standardized in accordance with AACC (American Association of Cereal Chemist) methods.
  • Check and verify the results of the in-process testing done by the milling and packing department.
  • Organize, label and document all samples which require testing.
  • Provide documentation assistance to QA Manager during mock recalls, Customer complaints, Customer inquiries and etc.
  • Participate in Good Manufacturing Practice/Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point and British Retail Consortium Food Safety program.
  • Complete customer documentation such as Certificate of Analysis and Product Specification.
  • Report and collaborate with QA Manager and appropriate personnel on matters regarding the results of analysis conducted.
  • Perform/Complete other tasks as assigned by QA Manager in the scope of Operations and QA Department.
  • Coordinate activities with Production and Office Staff in completing analysis and documents.
  • Daily documentation of lab results, computer data entry and maintain pertinent quality records and files.
  • Conduct wheat and flour testing and analysis to ensure raw material and finished goods quality and safety are within the predetermined product specifications.
  • Keep the laboratory clean and organized through appropriate housekeeping.


The successful candidate should enter the position with the following qualifications:


  • Some familiarity with common Laboratory equipment similar but not limited to: pH meter, Farinograph, Amylograph, Moisture and Ash ovens, Leco protein analyser, and Near Infrared.
  • Proficiency in the use of computer software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Good organizational and communication skills and demonstrated ability to meet deadlines.
  • Diploma in food science, chemistry, general science or related fields or equivalent training and experience.
