Footwear Designer/Developer Jobs

Power Athletics Ltd is seeking a footwear designer to join the team and work on thePowerand/orWeinbrennerbrands.

Powercreates desirable and accessible athletic footwear and inspires all people to ‘Play On’ by committing to an active and fitness-oriented lifestyle. The Power footwear brand is distributed throughout 20 countries around the world, primarily through Bata retailers, and appeals to a broad range of recreational athletes and fitness enthusiasts. Power provides athletic footwear of excellent value, with comfort, quality, style and technological features as key deliverables.

Weinbrenner, now located in Canada and part of the Bata Group, was founded in 1892 in Wisconsin, USA. In its beginnings it was specialized in work boots and then evolved to cater for outdoor living. In the 2000's, product innovation stepped-up with the development of internal technologies. Today the brand focuses on footwear and apparel for casual-outdoor lifestyle and technical outdoor activities.

Responsibilities:

• Responsibilities will vary depending on level and experience.
• Build colourways and select seasonally relevant materials.
• Design and develop compelling footwear products.
• Work with suppliers and business partners in Asia to bring products to fruition.
• Create and correct technical drawings and paper patterns.
• Occasional business travel for trade shows, trend shopping, sales meetings, market visits, and/or development.
• Own a category or projects across several categories each season.
• Assist in developing presentation materials and catalogues for sales meetings and internal reviews.
• Identify and interpret trends and product opportunities to meet consumer requirements.

Skills and Abilities:

• Ability to juggle multiple projects and meet deadlines.
• Ability to work both independently on projects and to collaborate with the design team.
• Proficient in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and Microsoft Office.
• Understanding of manufacturing processes for softgoods and hardgoods.

Qualifications:

• Must have legal working status in Canada.
• Bachelor of Industrial Design or similar.
• Experience in footwear design and development preferred.
• Mandarin, Spanish or Italian speaking is a bonus.
• Should possess an interest in sports/ wellness/ outdoor adventure.
