Who Are You?
When you walk down the street, all you see are type, colours, and pixels (in a good way—not a scary way). The drive to create head-turning visuals and seamless user experiences is what gets you out of bed in the morning and what keeps you up late into the night. Jumping between traditional and digital design worlds isn’t an issue, and your portfolio reflects that because you strive to stay relevant in the constantly changing design and technology landscape. Other coders admire your ability to think creatively and solve problems on the fly—the smart ones might even call you a UX hero. Meeting expectations is okay but exceeding them is just so much more enjoyable, especially when done with your famously positive and humble approach.
Basically, you…
·live creatively through Adobe Creative Suite (XD, Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator).
·are a pretty quick study.
·manage time and solve problems with remarkable ease.
·know your way around Keynote and Numbers.
·Can use (if you have to) Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
·have experience with Adobe After Effects and Adobe Premiere Pro.
·handle pressure easily—or maybe even thrive in it.
·are always, always focused on the details.
·possess finely tuned interpersonal and written communication skills and are comfortable presenting.
·know the importance of proofreading every single thing that leaves your desk.
·get nerdy about things like type treatment, spacing, alignment, and file organization.
·keep up with design trends through social media, design blogs, influencers, etc.
·don’t shy away from criticism because it helps you grow.
·know at least one workplace-friendly joke
What You’ll Do
As a junior graphic/UX designer, you’ll use your razor-sharp focus to produce consistently high-quality work for clients. You’ll conceptualize, design, curate, revise, and deliver your creative in a timely fashion. Collaborating with others will be a big part of your job, and you’ll often be asked to jump in and out of projects as needed. Your manager will work closely with you, offering constructive criticism (which you welcome, of course) and helping you hit your deadlines and present your work internally and externally, as needed.
Essentially, you…
•produce innovative ideas and concepts based on existing brand guidelines or client objectives.
•create outstanding work that showcases your radical design skills in both traditional and digital media.
•design and develop best-in-class responsive websites and web applications using HTML, CSS, SCSS, JavaScript, jQuery, PHP, and Git/Version Control.
•will use content management systems like WordPress to develop websites.
•develop UI/UX design for mockups and wireframes.
•ensure the technical feasibility of UI/UX designs.
•brainstorm and develop fresh, effective ideas with targeted outcomes.
•prepare concept decks, creative concepts, and mood boards.
•provide support in developing storyboards and shot lists for photo and video shoots.
•work with printers, designers, copywriters, photographers, illustrators, stylists, animators, videographers, project specialists, web developers, and basically anyone else relevant to your projects.
•cultivate and contribute to a positive and engaging working environment.
•stay up to date on best practices related to design, digital marketing, and technology.
Education & Experience
•You have a degree or diploma in graphic design, UX design, or a related field or equivalent experience.
•You are fluent with Adobe Creative Suite and Keynote.
•You have 1 to 3 years of experience creating visual designs and concepts for business and clients.
It’s considered a bonus if you have…
•previous experience in the digital/print/marketing/design/promotional industry.
•marketing and/or business experience.
•deep knowledge of HTML/CSS, PHP, and WordPress.
•familiarity with After Effects and/or 3D Software (e.g. Blender, Dimension)
•knowledge of variable data and/or automation tools
