Our brands include Bluenotes, Thriftys by Bluenotes, Aeropostale Canada and Lucky Brand Canada.The Jr. Apparel Designer will seasonally design and execute a specific classification that coordinates with the concept and philosophy of the Company and brand. The selected candidate must have a strong understanding of past, present and future fashion and graphic trends, and will utilize their knowledge of design concepts and market trends in order to positively affect the bottom line profit.*EXPERIENCE IN FASHION/TEXTILE DESIGN IS AN ASSET. • Jr. Apparel Designer* with Thriftys:*
• Apparel Design:
• You will communicate clearly and effectively; you are confident speaking in person, on the phone and through email; your style is welcoming, concise and consistent. Proven ability to convey information, whether oral or written, in a successful, easy to understand manner particularly with presentations in weekly Merchandising meetings.*
• Effective Communication:
• Design and Trend Research:* Complete online research from a variety of sources such as forecasting sites, competitor websites and social media platforms and compile findings into trend packages to be shared with the Design and Buying departments on a monthly basis.*
• Create and design original artwork for apparel, including all over print design, graphic art and apparel marketing designs (i.e. hangtags). Determine size and arrangement of illustrative material and arrange layouts based on aesthetic design concepts. Assist in creation of design concepts and board presentations for each season.*
• Time Management:* You will balance your tasks with timeliness and efficiency, while demonstrating the ability to work with attention to detail and speed and urgency in a high productivity environment.*Qualifications:** Post-Secondary education in Graphic Design required or Bachelor’s Degree in Fashion or Art (or equivalent experience and education).* Must be familiar with graphic design concepts, practices, and various embellishment techniques.* Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Indesign, Photoshop and working on MAC and PC is a MUST* Excellent fashion sense and passion for apparel and accessory design* Organized and able to work under pressure with speed and urgency* Ability to work as a team and maintain a high level of professionalism* Ability to take initiative, be creative and imaginative to think outside the box*If all of this has inspired you, let’s talk!
