Spatial Designer Jobs

We are looking to hire alead Spatial Designerto work alongside architecture firms and design agencies on design projects for Air Canada. Project work will include space planning/layout, and interior/experiential/exhibition design. You will be brought into each project from the onset and will carry the projects through to completion playing an integral role in selling ideas and explaining rational to senior leadership. You will be working using different programs (including the Adobe CS, AutoCAD and SketchUp) to build presentations for executive teams. This is a cross-functional role between Brand and Product Design. This role reports into the Creative Studio Lead, Brand.

Type:Consulting, 40 hours/week

Location:Toronto, downtown Queen and Yonge

Work Arrangement:Hybrid (Tues/Thu) in office

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the design team, stakeholders, consultants, contractors, fabricators, regulatory agencies and other vendors
• Update and manage the global CMF documentation and cataloguing across all Air Canada properties, in both physical and digital formats
• Research and propose specification on furniture, lighting, materials. Document and ensure cataloging of materials.
• Lead innovative experiential graphic design solutions which adhere to and elevate our brand standards
• Conduct site visits (document existing conditions, take measurements)
• Render conceptual design ideas and prepare presentations with 3D renderings, plans, and material sample boards
• Design and specify components of wayfinding and signage systems
• Work directly with Brand, Product, and CRE teams and external agency partners (Architects and Industrial/Interior Designers)
• Research art, artists and designers and make recommendations for projects. Liase directly with them.
• Makes recommendations or decisions on architecture, interior design, standards and process improvements in line with client needs and requirements

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of the design process
• Great eye for multidisciplinary design and materiality
• Knowledge of materials, construction techniques and building codes
• Strong presentation building skills, building narratives and storytelling
• Highly proficient inAutoCAD and SketchUp,Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign etc.)
• Proficient in 3D modelling/rendering programs
