About Strescon Limited
Established in 1963, Strescon Limited has grown to become the largest precast, pre-stressed concrete manufacturer in Eastern Canada. Its primary market covers the Atlantic Provinces and the New England region of the United States. Strescon manufactures a wide range of both architectural and structural precast/prestressed concrete products including bridge girders, wall panels, complete parking garages, hollow-core planking, piling and deck slabs. Strescon presently has two facilities: 70,000 sq. ft. in Saint John, New Brunswick and 50,000 sq. ft. In Bedford, Nova Scotia.
In addition to our engineered precast facilities for custom components, Strescon also operates a 32,000 sq. ft. facility in Saint John which manufactures standard concrete products for engineered drainage systems, such as pipe, manholes and catch basins.
Job Summary
This position is responsible for working directly with Engineers and the Project team to ensure that all projects are completed safely within budget and defined scope. The Field Engineer must be an effective communicator with the leadership skills necessary to motivate professionals of different disciplines to achieve the best results. The ideal candidate must be highly organized, with the ability to proactively plan and multitask. This is a position that requires a solid understanding of operations combined with the desire to develop and maintain relationships both internally and externally.
Responsibilities
- Creating and maintaining erection schedules
- Assist designers in developing erection sequences and bracing plans for precast structures.
- Assist sales team in advising customers on erection constraints for future projects
- Assist estimating in review of erection section of project specifications
- Review project subcontract to understand scope of work
- Ability to learn and understand building frame stability concepts for total precast structures
- Create estimates for erection portion of projects
- Understand basic precast concrete component design concepts including connections and lifting systems
- Use knowledge to ensure engineering bracing plans are followed
- Ability to manage and direct erection crews
- Promoting safety management
- Traveling throughout the maritime provinces and New England states
- Hands on training with the erection crew is required
- Participating in essential meetings in office and on site
Technical Requirements
- Ability to learn Google SketchUp and Tekla, with exposure to other engineering related software
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering
