Job Description

Reporting to the Commissioner, Corporate Services, the successful candidate will lead a multi-disciplinary professional team in the delivery of facilities asset and property management programs on behalf of the corporation. This includes asset planning, space planning and accessibility, capital design and construction, energy management, maintenance and security services, and civic precinct operations. The Director will be responsible for defining service levels for facility maintenance, undertaking business planning, budgeting, and establishing operating policies and procedures for the Division. Skilled at relationship management, the Director will provide professional advice to client departments and Council on real estate and property related matters. As a seasoned leader, the Director will provide guidance and direction to staff teams and foster a progressive culture of engaged, high-performing employees.


The ideal candidate will come with a minimum of 10 years’ experience in facilities management, capital project delivery and operations experience in a senior management role. A university degree in Engineering, Architecture, Business Administration, Real Estate, or a related field of study is required. A Professional Mechanical or Electrical Engineer and/or Licensed Architect designation is desirable. You have demonstrated expertise in project management, long-term capital asset planning, facility management standards, energy and climate change practices, and asset management strategies. Exposure to a public sector or non-profit organization environment would be an asset, as well as the understanding of public/private partnership models. The successful candidate must have a high level of business acumen, customer service, and the ability to successfully foster continuous improvement.
