Regional Facilities Manager Jobs

IDEXX is seeking an experienced Regional Facility Manager at our Markham, Ontario location. This role will provide point of customer contact for facilities support and services across multiple locations. You will be responsible for providing leadership on internal facility services from initiation through delivery. You will also be responsible for vendor management; preparing cost and other analysis; budget management and being the point person for our internal customers. The ideal candidate will be the onsite and regional subject matter expert in the areas of facilities systems & equipment maintenance, safety, building code, hazards, and testing & commissioning projects.

What You Can Expect In This Role

• Project assistance duties include collaborating with project engineering to define the project scope and deliverables, stakeholders, project goals and risks.
• If applicable, manages staff, assigns work, monitors activities, evaluates performance, and manages escalated/critical issues. Administers employment actions, provides coaching and guidance to staff and promotes staff training and development.
• Responsible for administrative Facilities tasks, which may include contractor and vendor procurement, contract and contractor management, systems, and tools development, financial and personnel related administration among other related activities.
• Oversees day to day activities of facilities through utilization of contracted personnel, skills, contacts, and delegation of tasks.
• Manage internal facilities services and support functions, ensuring that company buildings and services meet business needs, function smoothly and provide comfortable and safe working conditions.
• Lead work activities, planning and organizing work, providing for adequate staffing and resources, and maintaining work on schedule.
• Manage departmental facility budgets, including CAPX, ensuring expenses stay within guidelines. Justify and obtains approvals for any changes to budgets.
• Directly manage vendors to assign work, monitor activities, evaluate performance, and manage escalated/critical issues.
• Perform facility services management oversight, tracking quality assurance oversight, safety, and environmental control.

What You Will Need To Succeed

• Ability to lead multi-disciplinary and cross-functional teams.
• Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with management, customers, vendors, and staff.
• 5+ years of related experience preferably in a Healthcare or Lab setting
• Strong project/program management skills with knowledge in use of portfolio and project management tools.
• Must be "hands-on" and assist in completing maintenance work.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Advanced knowledge of commercial HVAC, Electrical, Transformers, Chillers, Fire Alarms, Sprinkler systems, Generators, Lab Equipment (Hoods and Bio Safety Cabinets)
• Bachelor’s Degree preferred in a related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Physical demands and work environment

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Some travel may be required. - up to 25%
• Time spent in laboratory and office environment.
