Overview Of The Role


Reporting to the Plant Manager, and a key member of the plant Management team, the Maintenance Manager is responsible for the safe, efficient, and cost-effective operation of the maintenance department. The Maintenance Manager


provides leadership for the maintenance department and is responsible for the overall maintenance of mechanical, electrical, computer-aided equipment and utilities used to manufacture, package, store, and ship products. The 157,000 Sq foot TSSA Class 3 rated plant is staffed 24/7 365 days a year.


How you will make contributions that matter:


  • Provide leadership, coaching and mentorship to a diverse team of trades through pro-active communications, employee involvement, participation, individual feedback, and appraisal.
  • Maintain knowledge in mechanical, electrical, Automation, refrigeration, sanitation, trades, and technology.
  • Adopt and utilize continuous improvement strategies and remains well-informed of current and future technological developments.
  • Develop sound relationships across the organization and with vendors.
  • Ensure that all work is performed safely, while following OH&S, governmental and Company regulations and procedures.
  • Maintain and enforce a high standard of sanitation, housekeeping and cleanliness.
  • Manage the processes and secure the resources to ensure availability of the appropriate tools.
  • Partner with the Plant Manager to review revenues and costs relative to monthly budget and establishes further action plans.
  • Maintain in good repair all production, packaging, storage, shipping and material handling equipment and machines as well as the physical plant.
  • Develop appropriate schedules, manpower, contractor, and material requirements.
  • Ensure that an annual maintenance budget and plan are developed, followed and that cost targets are within budget.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance regarding the repair and maintenance of all machines and equipment.


You are best suited for the role if you have the following qualifications:


  • 5+ years of progressive experience in a maintenance Leadership role including demonstrated project management experience.
  • Must exhibit a high level of self-motivation, initiative good judgment, diligence, and have an excellent work ethic and attendance record.
  • Work a flexible schedule, including call-in, on nights and weekends if required.
  • Experience with preventive maintenance programs, PLCs, parts inventory, cost control, sourcing parts, managing budgets.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, diagnostic, analytical sand problem solving skills.
  • Experience in the Food industry is an asset.
  • A broad understanding of computer-aided processing equipment an asset.
  • A strong commitment to safety.
  • Mechanical Engineer, TSSA 3rd class Power engineer, Certified tradesperson in applicable trade (Millwright, Electrician, Automation Technician, Instrument Technician) or related education/Experience.
  • Proven leadership skills coupled with ability to effectively manage people in a team environment.
