Role Summary

To redefine how Canadians digitally interact and collaborate with Sun Life Canada, adding ease, effectiveness and convenience with each new feature we introduce. Across Sunlife.ca, our secure web experience and our mobile app, we’ll build a system suited to client’s changing needs and preferences. We’ll manage, measure and optimize this system continuously, deepening our insights and improving effectiveness.
Your role is to ensure we design and build amazing digital experiences that users love in the most effective and streamlined manner. You’ll lead a team devoted to this cause and will ensure they are clear on the roadmap and the capabilites required to build centrally to ensure cohesion of our digital ecosystem. You will be guided by your deep understanding of our clients, our competitors as well as digital innovators, and your close relationships with business and technology stakeholders. You will manage budget and resources carefully, aligning the spend to hit the sweet spot between client needs, business goals, and technology choices.
What will you do?
  • Support our digital transformation mandate, creating meaningful interactions for clients in a One Sun way.
  • Have a deep understanding of clients/ users, their needs, and pain points
  • Understand user behaviour and usage of the product to inform ongoing refinement of product vision and feature pipeline
  • This role will facilitate the alignment of key patterns and execute strategic builds, supported by an agile team to create cross BU digital client journeys.
  • Drive alignment across business areas to ensure our digital roadmap is cohesive, actively partnering with other business areas for best results and optimal client experience
  • Understand and stay at leading edge of existing market solutions/ components
What will you need to succeed?
Education and experience:
  • Experience in applied business technology
  • Degree in Technology, Marketing or Business
  • 5+ plus years experience working on digital channels, preferably in the financial services industry
Competencies
  • Strong skills at process definition and optimization, developing and building upon best practices
  • Continuous learning mind-set in order to test-and-learn
  • Analytical skills to develop or leverage reporting tools to measure performance of digital channels
  • Excellent problem solving skills to analyze options and arrive at the best solution
  • Broad financial services knowledge is nice to have
  • Strong collaboration skills, working with cross-Business Unit governance groups across Sun Life Canada, contributing ideas for standards and processes that help Sun Life Financial stay aligned in digital channels
  • Deep experience with agile product development
  • Innovative thinking that can break down barriers and provide unique solutions
  • Expert written and verbal communications skills
  • Effective relationship builder with skills to influence

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
