Reporting to the Program Director, Icebreakers program, the position's key contribution is to work collaboratively within the Integrated Project Team and Davie’s functional teams to ensure all aspects of the Icebreaker's program contract design phase project requirements are met.

The Deputy Program Director will represent Davie’s interests while building positive relationships with Davie’s customer and suppliers.

The DPD will assist in the leadership and of the PMO and the interface with Davie’s functional support organizations to ensure they know what is required to support a successful project. Precisely, you will :

• Develop regular reports for the client and internal status that monitor and communicate clearly project budget and schedule status and forecasts;
• Develop and ensure effective implementation of the project execution plan. Identify risk areas and recommend mitigation plans;
• Ensure the timely assessment of all change management processes, both internal and external, and ensure the required reports, documentation, tracking has been completed in accordance with the defined processes;
• Identify leading indicators to identify potential issues;
• Lead the PM team in such a manner as to make them effective team members committed to achieving the project goals;
• Ensure the project is profitable and maintains positive cash flow;
• Perform project audits to ensure program management outcomes are effectively being captured.
• Complete all performance reviews for the PM team;
• Identify resource needs in Davie’s functional areas and sub-contractors to ensure adequate resources are in place to meet project requirements;
• Ensure the timely preparation and accuracy of project invoicing;

Qualifications

• Ability to communicate in English and French
• Knowledge of risk management principles and methodologies;
• Proven ability to work in a team based and collaborative environment;
• Demonstrated understanding of the interrelationship of scope definition, schedule, estimate, sequencing and execution and procurement and contracting strategies;
• Knowledge of EVMS;
• Knowledge of cost/schedule systems and financial system integration. PMP designation is an asset;
• Ability to prioritize the work.
• Ability to identify emergent issues and recommend solutions
• Positive attitude and sound business acumen
• Proven experience of meeting past project goals in a complex, technical environment that is similar to shipbuilding
• Ability to clearly articulate issues verbally and in writing and provide focused briefs
• Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Engineering. Master’s is preferred;
