Lambton College wants to service and support the alumni of all campuses. The Coordinator of the Graduate Center oversees the operation of the graduate center office and services that support students after they graduate from their program. The coordinator contributes to the Graduate Center’s role as the main hub of graduate students, supporting and bringing together students from across their different programs, backgrounds, and cultures.
The coordinator plays a key leadership role in supporting graduate networking, providing employment and immigration information, and enhancing the student experience by building a strong alumni community. The coordinator also promotes Lambton pride.
Key Accountabilities
Events, Sessions & Calendar Management
- Coordinate expert sessions, ensuring there is always a Q&A section.
- Schedules events calendar.
- Coordinates logistics of the events.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of events and implement operational improvements.
- Ensures the Graduate Calendar is up to date and accessible to graduates.
- Actively researches and finds speakers, presenters, employers, and immigration advisors for the events.
- Manage all the organization of events for graduates, including but not limited to planning, design, development, promotion, sourcing, and billing of each event. Events will be focused on networking, immigration information, and employment opportunities.
- All events and sessions must be evaluated and KPIs should be reported
- Develop best practices and operational efficiencies to enhance overall service delivery.
Management of Graduate Center Office
- Weekly and monthly KPI’s reporting are a must
- Provides guidance and/or links to relevant information.
- Create, with the immigration and career experts, a checklist of what the alumni/students must know; and based on these, develop questionnaires and surveys.
- Manages the daily operations of the Graduate Center office.
- Acts as a resource to graduates and graduating students on immigration information, employment opportunities, career development, and networking programs.
Student Engagement, Communications, and Outreach
- Manages the graduate student communication media.
- Builds and maintains productive working relationships between immigration advisors employers and the graduate student community.
- Liaises with Lambton College to facilitate events or initiatives that require departmental support.
- Maintains resource materials, e.g., Graduate Handbook and checklists.
- Manages alumni-focused communications to enhance student engagement and community building.For all sessions and events, develop promotional communications including Lambton College Pride.
- Manages Graduate Center website content.
Financial and Scholarship Administration
- Requests proposals and authorizes expenditures within budget.
- Oversees graduate student funding budget.
- Manages graduate event budget.
Required Qualifications
Education
- A combination of equivalent education and/or experience may be considered.
- An undergraduate or graduate degree is required.
- International students and especially Lambton College graduates are a bonus
Experience
- Demonstrated experience implementing academic strategies and plans.
- Experience in the administration of academic programs or student services.
- Excellent technical skills including database management and statistical analysis.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret policies and regulations.
- Proven ability to work independently with minimal direction and as a team member in a busy and varied environment with deadlines, changing priorities, and large volumes of work.
- Excellent planning and organizational skills.
- Experience with financial management and data collection and analysis.
- Proficiency with database management and student information systems.
- Strong written communications skills including report writing, analysis, interpretation, and evaluation.
- Strong leadership and staff management skills.
- Strong communication skills, including discretion, judgment, and diplomacy.
- 2 + years of supervisory experience.
- Demonstrated skill in providing outstanding student services and promoting student success.
Others:
- Must be able to work on flexible hours and days as some events may be after 6 p.m. or on weekends, and this position has the responsibility to coordinate them.
- International students on PGWP are considered an asset.
- Graduates from Lambton College are considered an asset
