About Off The Eaten Track
OTET launched in 2012 by Bonnie Todd in Vancouver. The goal was to create a food tour company that took guests to interesting neighbourhoods and introduce them to local small businesses. We are opening a new awesome gift shop June 01, 2023 that will carry tons of awesome local products and will be a space where our foodie tours will visit. We also sell self-guided food tours out of the space.
Philosophy: We are not a boring tour company! We are foodie experts, know all the best secret hidden gems, are passionate about the restaurant industry and want to show the most local side of Victoria to visitors. We tell engaging stories, provide cool insider tips, and make sure our guests have the best time on our tours. We also provide outstanding customer service and exceptional tour experiences by being courteous, professional, polite, and dependable. We will go out of our way to make sure every guest is having fun.
The Opportunity: Operations Coordinator $18/hour
The successful candidate will coordinate and oversee multiple aspects of the company’s operations and work closely with the owner. The Operations Coordinator is primarily responsible for coordinating the booking process for our public and private tours, building and maintaining relationships with our restaurant partners, building and developing our retail operations, and promoting and marketing our self-guided food tours. The position is mainly at the gift shop but some travel within Victoria may be required.
Part Time
Saturday: 9am-5pm
Sunday: 9am-5pm
Monday: 9am-5pm
Responsibilities
·Open and close gift shop using established procedures.
·Assist in coordinating the booking process for all public tours.
·Selling and promoting our self-guided and guided food tours.
·Maintaining the shops cleanliness.
·Assisting in inventory and purchase of products.
·Using POS (we use Square) to take payments from guests.
·Work with restaurant partners to request, schedule and confirm food tours.
·Manage day-to-day store operation to ensure the business is set up for sustainable financial growth, while delivering outstanding customer service.
·Maintain and enhance strong and trusted relationships with our restaurant partners.
·Sell and stock products in the gift shop and have an in-depth knowledge of our products (product knowledge provided) to educate and better assist our customers.
·Respond to public and private customer inquiries and provide information for all guided and self-guided tours.
·Answer questions and give recommendations to tourists.
·Prepare monthly and ad hoc reports.
·Other administrative duties as required.
Requirements/Qualifications
·Passion for food and our local restaurant industry
·Flexible schedule and available most weekends
·Experience using Gmail and Google Drive
·Outstanding customer service skills
·Self-motivated starter with strong initiative and time management skills
·Strong verbal and written communication abilities
·Effective and thorough research skills
·Takes direction well and has coachable attitude
·Positive and enthusiastic
·Aged 19 and over
Preference will be given to candidates who:
·Has 1-2 years experience in retail OR
·Has 1-2 years experience in hospitality industry.
·Has lived in Victoria for at least 1 year.
·Speaks a second language.
Training
We’ll make sure you get everything you need to be successful in your role as Operations Coordinator.Training will be paid and last approximately 1-2 weeks
