Accounting Associate
Position Overview:
The Accounting Associate is responsible for assisting with various accounting tasks, such as recording financial transactions, reconciling accounts, preparing financial statements, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations and internal policies.
Key Functions & Duties:
- Assist in preparing and maintaining financial records, including recording daily transactions, journal entries, and general ledger entries.
- Daily bank reconciliations for the infrastructure division
- Perform other administrative duties, including filing, scanning, photocopying, and faxing.
- Assist the Manager or coworkers with any other tasks or job duties that may be required.
- Collaborate with other departments to gather financial data and provide analysis or reports as required.
- Reconcile intercompany, bank, accounts receivable, and accounts payable each month
- Coordinate and communicate effectively with internal departments, including Operations teams
- Support the month-end and year-end close processes, including assisting with financial reporting, accruals, and account analysis.
- Support the accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, including invoice verification, payment processing, and customer/vendor communication.
- Reconcile bank statements, accounts payable and receivable, and other financial accounts to ensure accuracy and identify discrepancies.
- Progress billing for the infrastructure division, including collection and cash receipts
Required Qualifications and Skills:
- Familiarity with financial statements and the ability to interpret and analyze financial data.
- Strong organizational and time management skills to meet deadlines and prioritize tasks.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate with team members and stakeholders.
- Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or a related field or equivalent experience.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in performing financial calculations and reconciliations.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
- Strong ethical and professional conduct in handling financial transactions and information.
- Knowledge of tax regulations and experience with tax preparation is a plus.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information.
- Problem-solving skills and the ability to research and resolve accounting discrepancies.
