Job Description

We are seeking a Welfare Administrative Assistant to join our BPA team in Mississauga.
The Welfare Administrative Assistant’s job functions include specific processing of employer benefit contributions, and member information related to hours, and enrolment. He or she ensures reporting is accurate in order to determine benefit plan entitlements for members, identify employer payment irregularities, initiate collection efforts and carry out delinquency procedures
The Welfare Administrative Assistant will:
  • Produce letters requested by members confirming benefit status, eligibility and dependent information.
  • Reports directly to Operations Manager.
  • Liaise with CCO office – print daily delinquency report, and investigate issues
  • Communicates with and answers enquires from other departments.
  • Responsible for processing reciprocal hours transfer requests received by affiliated locals on members’ behalf
  • Responds to enquiries from members, employers, and union representatives.
  • Analyze and identify discrepancies with employer contributions
  • Run monthly queries to identify member record discrepancies eg. Double coverage
  • Deals directly with participating employers, benefit plan members, union representatives and staff
  • Outstanding balance summaries and letters to employers
  • Log contribution reports received by mail
To be successful as a Welfare Administrative Assistant with BPA, you will need:
  • PC proficient with strong knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel and Word skills essential).
  • Demonstrated mathematical aptitude.
  • Bilingual – Italian, Spanish or Portuguese.
  • Minimum secondary school graduate, post secondary education preferred
  • Exposure to office administration and clerical processes particularly related to data analysis, and account reconciliation.
All-star candidates will have:
  • Knowledgeable on relevant Collective Agreement and associated benefit plan.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Skill in performing detailed numerical computations.
  • Ability to closely analyze and focus on detailed reporting and investigate discrepancies.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize workload.
  • Knowledge of the BPA Delinquency Guide, and ability to apply guidelines to day-to-day work.
  • Ability to multi-task, work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • PC proficient with strong knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel and Word skills essential).
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
