Job Title: Volunteer Coordinator

Job Type: 30 hours/week at $23/hour for one year (grant funded)

Job Summary:
As a Volunteer Coordinator at Alberta Avenue Community League, you will be responsible for managing our volunteer program and ensuring the effective recruitment, training, and coordination of volunteers. You will have the opportunity to make a difference by connecting individuals with meaningful volunteer opportunities and overseeing their engagement throughout their volunteering journey. This role requires excellent organizational skills, strong interpersonal abilities, and a passion for working with diverse individuals to achieve our mission.
Responsibilities:
- Assess the skills, interests, and availability of volunteers to match them with suitable opportunities within the organization
- Collaborate with board and staff to identify volunteer needs and create impactful volunteer assignments
- Provide ongoing support and guidance to volunteers, ensuring their engagement and satisfaction
- Organize and conduct volunteer training sessions to equip volunteers with the necessary skills and knowledge for their roles
- Evaluate the effectiveness of the volunteer program and implement improvements as necessary
- Maintain accurate records of volunteer information, hours contributed, and impact achieved
- Recognize and appreciate the contributions of volunteers through various recognition initiatives
- Develop and implement a comprehensive volunteer recruitment and retention strategy to attract a diverse pool of volunteers
- Coordinate the onboarding process for new volunteers, including conducting interviews, orientations, and background checks
- Stay updated on trends and best practices in volunteer management and incorporate them into the program
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of volunteer management software or databases is preferred
- Understanding of nonprofit organizations and their operations
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work with diverse individuals and groups
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective relationships with volunteers, staff, and stakeholders
- Proven experience in volunteer management or coordination within a nonprofit or community organization
- Diploma or degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team
