Reporting to the Director of Sales, Senior Sales Manager works in conjunction with the existing sales team to develop new business through prospecting initiatives, outside sales calls and sites. The successful candidate will build on existing account performance by market and increase revenues in their specified areas.
The Senior Sales Manager achieves group revenue goals by actively up selling each business opportunity to maximize revenue opportunity. The successful candidate implements the brand’s service strategy and applicable brand initiatives in all aspects of the sales process and drives customer loyalty by delivering service excellence throughout each customer experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Works with the management team and Director of Sales to create and implement a group sales/marketing plan addressing revenue, customers, and market.
- Work closely with the Revenue Manager to ensure proposed rate negotiations meet the financial needs of the hotels.
- Assist Director of Sales in developing group sales revenue strategies and operation budgets and provides forecasting reports.
- Maintain a clear understanding of the hotel’s business strategy develop an action plan to support the strategy.
- Professionally represent the property at all business development events and participate in industry events outside of regular business hours when required.
- Support the hotels service and relationship strategy by delivering service excellence throughout each customer experience.
- Own and be responsible for designated market segments as well as increase market share in that market.
- Assist in the development and execution of sales goals as measured monthly/quarterly/annually with Director of Sales.
- Provide direction, leadership, feedback and support to divisional associates by planning, supervising and evaluating work.
- Develop training for sales managers together with Director of Sales to proactively build sales strategies that assist in growing the reputation of The Lord Nelson Hotel and Suites as Halifax Landmark.
- Complete proposals, contracts, client follow-up, daily and weekly activity reports on a timely basis.
- Professionally represent the Lord Nelson Hotel and Suites in all written and verbal correspondence with clients and coworkers.
- Develops relationships within the community to strengthen and expand customer base for group/catering sales opportunities.
- Initiate sales calls, follow up on qualified leads, identify and influence decision makers and conduct sales presentations and site tours.
- Analyze current and potential market trends; coordinates all activities to maintain and increase revenue through added business volume and increased rates.
- Develop and/or maintain relationships with clients working to find solutions that align with the clients’ needs and the hotel’s goals.
- Other duties as assigned by the Director of Sales.
- Develop strong relationships with property operational teams to ensure working in unity and always striving to achieve the same goals.
- Monitor same day selling procedures to maximize room revenue and control hotel occupancy.
- Partner with the sales team to identify new group/catering business and achieve personal and property revenue goals.
- Monitors the effective resolution of guest issues that arise as a result of the sales process by creating mechanisms to channel issues to property leadership and/or other appropriate stakeholders.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum 4 years hotel sales and marketing experience, preferably in a full-service, upscale property.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills - adventurous, creative, passionate, determined and high energy required.
- Passionate about sales and proven track record of meeting or exceeding targets.
- Empathy towards your customers and colleagues.
- Must have the ability to set priorities, be a strategic thinker and bring excellent time management and multi-tasking skills.
- Responds to and manages large and complex incoming opportunities for the property.
- Polished personal presentation with warm, confident and hospitable personality.
- Must have a sharp knowledge and understanding of the hotel sales / operations.
- Strong business acumen and comfortable in a networking environment.
- Pride and attention to detail.
- Targets accounts, markets, or segments with heavy emphasis on proactive solicitation and account saturation.
