About The Role
We are currently seeking a Senior Research & Development Engineer to join our Advanced Development Team to assist with the development of new medical products. This group is involved in early-stage product and business development activities, including concept generation, design, prototyping, and clinical and market research. These individuals also have an opportunity to develop intellectual property and support pre-clinical and marketing activities.
Your Responsibilities Will Include

• Assist in understanding unmet clinical needs, identifying solution requirements and developing business cases
• Collaborate with a variety of internal and external stakeholder groups and clients
• Support pre-clinical and clinical research activities
• Generate device designs, and build prototypes within short timelines
• Assist in the design of cutting-edge medical devices through research, concept generation, rapid prototyping, and testing
• Presents will with internal stakeholders (BSC wide groups)
• Support the development of intellectual property
• Develop validation plans and conduct testing (mechanical, biological, electrical) to evaluate prototypes

Required Qualifications

• Ability to translate high-level, big picture thinking to detailed designs and development
• Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
• 6+ years of experience in medical devices
• Strong problem analysis and hypothesis-driven experimental design skills
• Experience with leading rapid prototyping efforts and making design recommendations
• Highly flexible and resourceful with ability to independently develop and adapt work plans based on vague or changing project goals
• Can do attitude but willing to take different projects when needed.
• Experience gathering and consolidating requirements from cross-functional groups
• Ability to engage with physicians and gain direction and unbiased feedback
• Engineering degree required in Mechanical or Biomedical Engineering
• Ability to travel (>25%)
