Our Brampton location is presently looking for Project Manager, External Development Projects, R&D
Job purpose
This position manages external developments using technologies which currently do not exist in house like sterile or potent products, or licensing of products developed for markets other than the US, or JVs for developments. This manager will initiate and project manage the deliverables including follow up on all activities, monitor timelines, and collaborate with involved third parties and Taro’s R&D Teams.
Duties and responsibilities
The position is responsible to coordinate and lead development and manufacturing/packaging related project activities among all relevant parties (third party and internal) to ensure deliverables are supplied on time, within budget and according to quality standards. The Project Manager will coordinate activities that lead to develop and support launch. Also, effectively applies scheduling, risk management, and comprehensive quality assurance and control to the process of bringing a drug to market in a cost-efficient way.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Work with the team members from all relevant departments (e.g. Chemistry, Formulation RD, ARD, Clinical and Regulatory) to ensure that the project development progress according to Development Plan
- Lead External Development R&D projects team meetings and assist the teams in resolving issues
- Facilitate and ensure all appropriate documentation is approved and processed, including agreements, contracts, invoices, proposals, plans, protocols, etc.
- Initiate, coordinate and lead External Development R&D projects, including manufacturing/packaging related project activities among all relevant parties up to submission and support up to launch
- Develop and maintain integrated timelines, and ensure consistency with input from the involved third-parties and internal functional teams
- Identify project risks and potential issues, and facilitate their address and successful resolution
- Help provide updates and status reports to senior management on a regular basis; report on performance vs plan
- Support with ideas for External Development R&D projects
- Help manage the budget for External Development R&D projects. Ensure overall operation is within the approved budget and timeline
- Ensure compliance of external vendors with Taro quality standards and with Quality department's support
Other Duties and Responsibilities
- Set up proper checklists for PM activities.
- Set up project-specific scientific teams from within Taro's R&D group to assist with product development in different scientific areas.
- Address the regulatory, compliance and quality related needs for External Development R&D projects
- Other duties and responsibilities may be added based on the changing departmental needs.
Qualifications
- Degree in related sciences or business with a minimum 5 years of professional experience in pharmaceutical industry.
- Proficiency in use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and Adobe Acrobat.
- Experience with contract/financial side of the activities. Economic/ financial education is of advantage.
- Familiarity with R&D activities.
- Ability to work with multiple complex projects and within cross-functional teams.
- Good project management and verbal communication skills.
- Strong negotiation skills, ability to communicate well one-on-one and in groups
- Excellent interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills.
- Good understanding of the drug development process, pharmaceutical industry, GMP/GLP & ICH/FDA regulations and guidelines.
Working conditions
- Travel 5% of the time.
