This Is What You Will Do
As Business Ops & Finance for Development and Safety, this position plays a pivotal role in the Dev & Safety team. This position is responsible for owning and overseeing the finance and headcount for the Dev & Safety team, supporting all resourcing and headcount requests, financial planning, and synergies. This requires strong business acumen and knowledge of clinical development and development operations.
You Will Be Responsible For

• Reconciliation and facilitation of the monthly forecasts with finance
• Helping build our near-term operational plan and long-range vison for facility, technology (systems) and other capital investment options including helping to drive our strategic make vs buy analysis.
• Responsible for the combined R&D Work force planning and forecasting model within R&D and build out a CMC activity-based forecasting tool in conjunction with HEX
• Driving operational excellence initiatives
• Monitoring and tracking all budgets and headcount within Development & Safety, establishing financial processes and reporting structures that best mirror the way we do work in the new organization. Partner closely with the Business Operations Lead to build a team best suited to scale for Dev & Safety
• Leading the development and maintenance of the integrated R&D annual operating plan and long-range capital and Opex plan in excess of $250M

You Will Need To Have

• Experienced in communicating and interacting with Senior Executive stakeholders across multiple mediums—verbal, written, and visual (e.g., PowerPoint)
• Proven ability in managing both long-term and day-to-day planning and communications activities
• Demonstrated experience in synthesizing complex information from varying resources to guide executive updates, decision making, and strategic planning
• Bachelor’s degree required, with an advanced degree preferred—a focus on life sciences is a plus
• The duties of this role are generally conducted in an office environment. As is typical of an office-based role, employees must be able, with or without an accommodation to: use a computer; engage in communications via phone, video, and electronic messaging; engage in problem solving and non-linear thought, analysis, and dialogue; collaborate with others; maintain general availability during standard business hours.
• Business acumen and strong project management skills with an excellent record of handling multiple tasks simultaneously, responding to tight timelines, and interacting with all levels of an organization in a professional and discrete manner
• Commitment to leadership, diversity, and talent development
• Strong interest in learning more about Alexion’s R&D strategy, pipeline, key assets, and capabilities; prior drug development knowledge / experience is a plus
• At least seven years of experience in organizational design, high performing teams, and / or change management
• Demonstrated ability to influence without hierarchy across the organization
• At least five years of experience in the biotech and / or pharmaceutical industry or equivalent
• Well-organized with a depth of experience in managing work across multiple objectives and competing priorities
• External / client-facing consulting experience preferred

We Would Prefer For You To Have

• Finance background or MBA would be a strong preference
• Bachelors’ degree with strong biopharmaceutical experience preferred
