Job Description
This is what you will do:


The Director, Business Operations & Finance will support Global Development Regulatory & Safety with developing and refining resourcing models and forecasts, financial reports and other special projects to serve business needs. This role is expected to handle requests that are time sensitive and critical to respond to urgent requests from senior leadership.


The individual filling this role must be able to function efficiently and effectively in a fast-paced professional environment. They will have a proven ability to independently manage multiple tasks with competing priorities and deadlines, while maintaining and adhering to operational processes and internal policies that are essential and central to this position. Candidates must have the ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees and be able to tactfully manage internal client expectations.


You will be responsible for:


Budgeting and Forecasting


  • Proactive stakeholder management and alignment to achieve the organizational vision by collaborating influencing and partnering with many important global stakeholders and colleagues across Alexion and AstraZeneca.
  • Suggest and develop efficient and effective processes to improve/enhance financial reporting, analysis and approval.
  • Handle special assignments and ad hoc request for information from other departments.
  • Drive evolution of Global Development, Regulatory & Safety by creating, innovating, supporting, and embedding efficiencies to implement high-impact work and seamless delivery.
  • Hold an entrepreneurial mindset to take on a wide range of special projects delegated by the DPQ Team
  • Responsible for financial data analysis and data reconciliation from various sources for clinical trial budgets to ensure appropriate expense recognition
  • Gather information from various sources and prepare assessments based on requests from leadership
  • Prepare presentations for internal stakeholders
  • Ensure the accuracy of information reported
  • Responsible for managing the financial planning cycle within Development, Regulatory & Safety with collaboration with internal stakeholders
  • Development and utilization of data analytics to drive global Development Regulatory & Safety performance


Developing, refining, and reporting resourcing and headcount budgets


  • Participate in development opportunities internal and external to the organization that would contribute to the business needs.
  • Manage direct reports as required
  • Engage with internal stakeholders to understand FTE forecasting needs and provide input to Strategic Program and Portfolio Management team to redefine resource demand needs.
  • Monitor Development Safety and Quality resourcing, and work with leaders to respond to changes in needs, escalating issues concerning competing resourcing priorities.
  • Monitor and communicate current and future delivery capacity cross functionally and flag resourcing capability gaps to senior leadership

  • Experience working in the pharmaceutical industry and project management
  • Ability to problem solve and follow-up on urgent matters in a timely manner
  • Experience managing cross-functional teams to execute complex projects
