The Senior Director, Airports leads the airport, ramp and deicing operations in support of safety, efficiency and exceptional customer service. They will oversee a workforce that performs operations of the company in accordance with appropriate industry standards and regulations. They will manage the performance of their department and identify and implement improvement initiatives on an ongoing basis.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Interested candidates should be able to perform the following duties and responsibilities:
- Leads, and directs the activities of the Airport operations team in support of safety, efficiency and exceptional customer service;
- Develop and monitor key performance indicator to visibility on operational performance and customer experience;
- Collaborate with senior leadership to identify long term resource requirements;
- Responsible for delivering exceptional customer experience;
- Ensures the professional development and training of their people;
- Other related duties as assigned.
- Ensures the performance of the Airports and Ramp operation are in accordance with regulatory, company and customer requirements;
- Travels to stations on a regular basis to maintain an operational focus and senior leadership presence;
- Sets goals and monitors performance of the airport operations team;
- Leads, and directs the activities of the Airports and Ramp operations team in support of safety, efficiency and exceptional customer service;
- Facilitates enhanced cooperation between departments to leverage best practices, improve communications, enhance product offerings and optimize performance;
- Respond to operational reports and investigate Hazardous Occurrence Investigation Reports as required
- Implement and maintain a continual improvement program across all areas of responsibility;
- Negotiates and manages ground handling contracts throughout the network;
- Provides oversight and support for Safety Management and Quality Assurance as it pertains to the Airports and Ramp Department
- Builds and manages an expense and revenue budget for their department;
- Provides oversight and support for Safety Management and Quality Assurance as it pertains to the Airport Operations;
- Assists with departmental labour relations including contract negotiations/interpretations, discipline, grievance hearings/arbitration;
- Ensures the performance of the Airports and Deicing operation are in accordance with regulatory, company and customer requirements;
- Oversees the development of standard operating procedures, training and quality assurance programs for their department;
Skills and Qualifications:
Include, but not limited to, the following minimum skills and qualifications:
- Budgeting experience required;
- Excellent leadership skills with the ability to coach, mentor, and motivate;
- Ability to obtain and retain an Airport Restricted Area Pass in accordance with the Airport Restricted Area Access Clearance Program regulated by Transport Canada.
- Solid customer service skills;
- Able to travel extensively;
- Strong analytical skills;
- Experience managing a unionized workforce;
- Ability to communicate in Inuktut a definite asset;
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines;
- Post Secondary Education (3 years);
- Northern work experience an asset;
- Experience with developing and implementing procedures;
- 5 to 10 years managerial experience within the airline industry, developing procedures, supervising, coaching, and developing staff;
- Possesses a solid understanding of the customer environment;
- Superior operating knowledge of Airport, Ramp & Deicing operations and procedures;
- Operational knowledge of aircraft ground handling for all Company aircraft;
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and spoken);
