The Senior Analyst is part of the Real Estate Investment Operations group within the Investment Operations Department.


The person in this role will be responsible for investment operation activities for a set group of RE investments. This will require cross functional partnerships, understanding the full asset life cycle and being comfortable taking on processes end to end.


This position requires an individual who’s highly motivated with a strong analytical and accounting background.


Role-Specific Accountabilities:


  • Attend to the maintenance of existing investments by ensuring capital calls, distributions and commitment updates are appropriately reviewed, approved, and processed in the respective investment systems
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Attend to, the onboarding of new transactions including review of partnership agreements, structure changes including debt refinancing on existing investments, and dispositions
  • Assist Manager to develop and enhance internal controls; monitor current procedures, reconciliations, and reasonability checks; streamline, automate, and enhance existing processes
  • Prepare documentation to support reviews conducted and to substantiate and demonstrate that adequate processes and controls have met regulatory requirements
  • Prepare daily/monthly/quarterly accounting entries, reconciliations, and reports
  • Work alongside our investment partners to ensure appropriate reporting and support are provided on a timely basis
  • Monitor cashflows and P&L activity to ensure investments returns are not impacted
  • Work cross functionally with other team members and departments to ensure we remain aligned with our vision, goals and values
  • Support the investment department and respond to enquiries in a timely and professional manner
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement and innovation mindset around how CPP Investments manages its investment operations
  • Identify and thoroughly investigate economic carrying value or return discrepancies and determine appropriate course of action in a timely manner


Qualifications


As the qualified candidate you possess:


  • Proven attention to accuracy and detail
  • Highly organized with the ability to prioritize and multi-task whilst ensuring reporting timelines are met
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills, with ability to foster effective working relationships internally across the organization and externally
  • A continuous learning mindset with a desire to learn about CPP Investments business and recommend innovative solutions to business problems
  • 2-5 years of experience in a related role within the financial services and/or real estate investment industry
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to independently identify issues and determine course of action
  • Experience with Yardi, Simcorp, or other accounting software is considered an asset
  • University degree in business or other relevant discipline
  • A professional designation such as CPA, CMA, CGA, CFA
  • Ability to readily adapt to a rapidly changing environment
  • Demonstrated good judgment and professionalism
  • Intellectually curios, self-motivated, flexible, and adaptable in a high performance and deadline-oriented culture
