Remote Sensing Specialist Jobs

WSP E&I Canada Limited is currently seeking a Remote Sensing specialist to work with our Remote Sensing team remotely from anywhere in Canada.

The successful candidate should have a graduate degree in remote sensing or similar fields and has done operational or academic projects on different applications of remote sensing. The candidate can work from any place in Canada and will enjoy working on interdisciplinary global projects.

Responsibilities

• Utilizing ArcGIS for various image processing tasks;
• Visual interpretation of aerial imagery
• Contributing to preparing effective proposals and reports
• Collaborating on met-ocean projects to develop methods for deriving oceanographic and meteorological parameters from different satellite observations;
• Working on land cover classification using different types of remote sensing datasets (e.g., high resolution satellite images, UAV images, and LiDAR data);
• Developing machine learning algorithms within commonly-used GIS and remote sensing software packages
• Using Python for different remote sensing applications;

Qualifications

• Experience with land cover classification using object-based methods;
• Experience with Google Earth Engine and cloud computing methods for big geo data processing tasks would be an asset;
• Proficient in using remote sensing and GIS software packages;
• Strong background in using machine learning methods for various remote sensing applications;
• Being team-oriented, self-motivated with strong interdisciplinary collaboration and problem solving skills;
• Master or PhD degree in Remote Sensing or similar fields;
• Strong written and oral communication (English) skills;
• Strong programming skills, especially with Python;
