Are you ready to join our team as an IT Infrastructure Specialist? In this role, you will collaborate with our internal and external customers to design, build, modify, and maintain our cutting-edge IT infrastructure within the IBM Cloud. By leveraging industry standards and best practices, you will utilize your strong analytical and problem-solving skills to deliver high-quality support that meets the unique needs of our customers. While our head office is located in Ottawa, ON, we offer remote work opportunities to our management and staff. This position is open to qualified individuals residing anywhere in Canada or the United States of America, as long as they are willing to work remotely from their homes and occasionally travel within North America.

What Your Impact Will Be

• Act as a technical point of escalation for customer support issues related to Operating Systems, Database and performance.
• Work with potential and existing customers to design and document hardware, software platform, and network architecture recommendations.
• Provide primary Operating System and Database support for our select customers that subscribe to those services.
• Work with the sales team to provide technical details for proposals.
• Work with other departments to identify opportunities to improve processes by implementing industry best-practices.
• Remotely install and configure advanced hardware, operating system, and database platforms for our application during implementation projects.
• Manage the SmartWorks hosted client application systems and internal R&D development systems, databases, networking and storage, located in our cloud-based infrastructure.
• Collaborate on technical issues with a third-party organization that provides cloud hosting for our applications.

What we are looking for:

• Some familiarity working with relational databases (Oracle, PostgreSQL, or other).
• Possess strong analytical skills to understand requirements.
• Experience with Cloud-based virtual systems, networking and storage.
• Experience supporting the Linux OS (Red Hat Enterprise Linux / Centos, or other).
• Experience in network administration, including firewalls and VPN's.
• Can work independently, but most importantly, as a team player.
• Are able to prioritize and manage your time well.
• Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
• College diploma or University degree in a related technical field.
• Know that a positive attitude is a must.
• 3+ years of relevant production environment work experience.
