Job Description
Position Title: Manager of IT


Posting Number: #23-18


Reports to: Director of Finance


Compensation: $80k+ Commensurate with Experience


Schedule: 8:30am-4:30pm, Monday-Friday (75 hours bi-weekly)

Primary Objectives:


Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Manager of IT will be responsible for:


  • Responsible for training new staff to use Pacifica’s information systems
  • Responsible for ensuring Pacifica’s diverse and geographically distributed staff has access to Pacifica’s information technology and systems required to perform their jobs


Key Responsibilities:


I. Demonstrated ability to serve as a knowledgeable IT resource to the organization, including:


  • Overseeing service contracts with IT providers (IT support services, office phone system, mobile phones and teleconference services);
  • Performing other related duties, as required.
  • Monitor performance of IT systems to determine cost and productivity levels, and to make recommendations for improving the IT infrastructure;
  • Managing SALTO key fob system
  • Desktop hardware installation/moves (workstations, laptops, monitors, thin clients, printers);
  • Support for office phone and fax system, liaising with contractor as necessary;
  • Receiving requests from staff for changes to hardware/software/configuration and delivering approved requests either by his/her own action or by tasking 3rd party resources;
  • Acting as primary agency contact for Pacifica employees for general IT issues including network, computer, software, internet, cell phone, office phone, printer and scanners system;
  • Desktop hardware troubleshooting and problem resolution (workstations, laptops, monitors, thin clients, printers);
  • Resolving IT problems for all Pacifica staff, either by his/her own action, or by tasking the IT contractor;
  • Completing special projects and IT related duties as assigned
  • Problems that can be resolved by email or phone;
  • User account and permissions management;
  • Maintaining Pacifica’s IT assets inventory in collaboration with IT contractor;
  • Insuring that backs up are completed on a regular basis; and
  • Computer systems Tier 1 problem resolution:
  • Application support, liaising with vendors as necessary;
  • Maintaining Pacifica Housing’s website;
  • Support for mobile phones, liaising with service providers as necessary
  • Managing internal e-mail distribution lists and e-mail accounts;
  • Some computer systems Tier 2 problem resolution:
  • Completing technical tasks:
  • Liaising with the contracted IT providers to address issues as they arise or to revise services;
  • Problems affecting an individual that require in-person attention or equivalent remote support tools;
  • Assisting other departments in the organization as required. (Finance, HR, Property Services, Support Services, Admin etc.)
  • IT planning, budgeting, and life-cycle management in collaboration with IT contractor;


Requirements


Qualifications: (minimum Education and Experience requirements):


Note: An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.


Education:


  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related program


Experience:


  • Hands-on experience with computer networks, network administration and network installation
  • Excellent knowledge of technical management, information analysis and of computer hardware/software systems
  • Experience with and knowledge of related software programs preferable (i.e. Microsoft Office particularly Excel, Yardi, WordPress)
  • 5+ years related experience (must include some IT/ computer science experience)


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:


  • Ability to work within tight deadlines
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop the IT Department
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent working knowledge of computer systems, security, network and systems administration, databases and data storage systems, and phone systems


Additional Criteria for Role:


  • Must have access to a vehicle, a valid driver’s licence, and willing to acquire business class insurance.
  • Completion of a Criminal Record Check with the Vulnerable Sector is required before employment commences
