These are exciting opportunities to apply your analytical, strategic thinking, and project management skills, working at the intersection of transportation, urban planning, data science, and technology to help the City of Toronto build and operate a better, safer, and more equitable transportation network for all road users.

Major Responsibilities

Successful candidates will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the Traffic Data Collection Programs while developing processes and procedures to expand and modernize the programs.

  • Providing excellent customer service to internal and external clients.
  • Preparing technical documentation on routines, processes and procedures in support of initiatives, programs and day-to-day functions of the Data & Analytics Unit to facilitate the transfer of knowledge and consistent practices.
  • Attending meetings and networking with staff, other Departments / Divisions, different levels of government, consultants, contractors and vendors to provide support, assess options and collaborate on developing solutions.

Research

  • Identifying and monitoring emerging transportation data sources and methodologies, including those with potential applications in current and future Divisional projects.
  • Planning, evaluating, and conducting pilot studies to assess data collection technologies, software, methodologies, data management and/or computer systems and programs.
  • Preparing, coordinating and/or providing input on purchasing documents such as requests for expressions of interest (REOI), information (RFI), quotation (RFQ), proposals (RFP), and other tools to procure goods or services, evaluate bids and submissions, make recommendations for award, and assist in the negotiation and execution of contracts.
  • Conducting research on industry best-practices and maintaining state-of-practice knowledge on transportation data analytics, traffic data collection and related topics.

Teamwork and Supervision

  • Providing oversight and direction to project team members and junior staff on tasks related to data collection, evaluation and analysis, quality assurance, reporting, and documentation, including scheduling, assigning and reviewing work.
