Govan Brown has an exciting opportunity for a talented and energetic Project Management Assistant / Project Coordinator to provide support to the Project Managers on our commercial interiors team, ensuring our client projects are executed on schedule, within budget and at the highest quality.


The opportunity

  • Review shop drawings for scope and accuracy against schedules
  • Track and communicate regularly with key stakeholders regarding project status and milestones
  • Conduct regular site visits, attend and participate in client and trade meetings
  • Setup and maintain accurate project information and data in our computerized project management system (CMiC)
  • Provide project accounting support – assist with approvals for AP processing and client invoicing, budgets & estimates
  • Liaise and build relationships with clients, designers and sub-contractors
  • Provide top notch service to clients, suppliers and other stakeholders by responding professionally and with a sense of urgency
  • Play a key role through all phases of our construction projects, from tender through construction and close-out.
  • Proactively manage project processes and documents, such as project set up, bid packages, subcontract management, drawings, purchase orders, contracts, building permits, change order requests and pricing, RFIs, RFQs, close out etc.
  • Organize the project closeout documentation, including; warranties, drawings, manuals, permits etc.


Skills & Experience


  • Proactively identify problems / issues and develop effective solutions
  • Confidence and professionalism to communicate effectively with clients, designers, subcontractors and peers
  • Highly organized and a stickler for detail
  • Ability to read and understand construction-related drawings/documents - architectural, structural, M&E
  • Tech savvy in Microsoft Office suite and project management software (an asset)
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision / direction as well as part of a team, sharing information with others
  • Strong knowledge of construction processes through all phases – startup through construction and closeout
  • Positive spirit with a “get ‘er done” attitude
  • Construction Management, Architecture or Engineering diploma or degree
  • Self- motivated with the ability to take initiative and work in a fast-paced environment, handling competing demands
  • 2 to 3 years related experience, preferably in the Commercial Construction/Interior fit-up and/or base build industry
