We are looking for an experienced and passionate payroll professional with a can-do attitude to join our client's team in Kahnawake, QC.
Working as part of a fast-paced team and within a wider HR Function you will provide a professional, high quality service. You will be responsible for effectively and consistently operating payroll procedures and payroll related pension procedures in a timely and accurate manner as determined by the Company Payroll Policy for all employees. You will be able to operate Ceridian payroll/HR system in accordance with the current controls and procedures.
Must have a keen eye for detail and a desire for accuracy of employee pay. You will have a strong understanding of legislation to ensure pay is compliant with CRA and third party regulations. You will be confident in communication with a variety of departments in order to achieve our desired goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify, investigate and resolve any payroll discrepancies using payroll reports, and working across teams where necessary to rectify any issues.
- Analyse and verify all payroll and pension documentation received from authorised parties prior to payroll processing.
- Ensure that payment of wages/salaries is processed correctly into employee’s bank accounts on the due date according to the company's timetable.
- Clearly and professionally respond to escalated queries using the Case Management system, in accordance with quality and competency frameworks.
- Accurately prepare payroll for 100 weekly paid staff, taking direct responsibility for a specific subset of colleagues.
- Analyse, verify and reconcile the payroll output on a weekly basis. Compare data to previous periods to highlight discrepancies.
Key Skills & Knowledge
- Experience working with a case management system.
- Proficiency with MS Office. Strong Excel Skills (Vlookup, Pivot table, etc).
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to work in a team towards the same goal, building beneficial long-term relationships internally and externally to achieve the desired results.
- Familiarity with benefits and other wage deductions.
- Competent with spreadsheets and with handling and analysing large volumes of data.
- Knowledge of payroll procedures.
- Ability to work to a deadline under pressure with minimum supervision. Being able to prioritise and have excellent time management and organisational skills.
- Proactive thinking
- Multi-tasking abilities.
- Comprehensive knowledge of PAYE/NIC and statutory payments and recoveries.
- Excellent mathematical skills.
- Familiarity with Ceridian Payroll and other similar systems such as Oracle Cloud HCM payroll software
