How Will You Create An Impact
The Onboarding Consultant is an integral part of the Retention Team, and is responsible for leading the creation of a welcoming onboarding process to support a new employee’s journey, which will manage the end-to-end onboarding process and provide a great employee experience and smooth start in their new roles. The process will support the new employee in building relationships with other IH employees, reduce the time for employees to orient in their new position, be productive, and enable new employees have completed all job-ready requirements.
As the program owner and primary subject matter expert, the Onboarding Consultant regularly interfaces with partners across the organization to understand their needs, and implements strategies to improve the experience of new employees.
What Will You Work On
  • Engages with key partners through multiple formats (including but not limited to surveys, focus groups, interviews etc.) to determine what education, assistance, scheduling, and initiatives are favorable for different streams of onboarding, orientation and off boarding, including; new hires, executives, promotions, transfers, retirements and resignations. Works with subject matter experts to enable all information provided in onboarding, orientation and off boarding is appropriate, up-to-date and relevant.
  • Acts as a subject matter expert to business leadership, hiring managers, and other key partners.
  • Acts as a resource to client groups by providing input towards onboarding, orientation and off boarding activities, strategies, and client-specific needs.
  • Researches technology and tools to enhance onboarding and orientation and off boarding, working in collaboration with other areas and key partners.
  • Leads strategic and operational business planning, including working with corporate performance measures and budgets, business case development and collaborating with third party vendors on the development of a program.
  • Collects feedback from multiple sources: internal & external partners, corporations, and research best practices for onboarding; provide oversight and recommendations.
  • Consults and works in collaboration with internal partners across various departments to develop needs analyses and implementation for onboarding, orientation and off boarding program.
  • Develops good working relationships and consults with subject matter experts in various business areas that supports the onboarding, orientation and off boarding processes.
  • Assist staff in supporting organization and department specific onboarding, orientation, and off boarding administration, and technology to enable consistency and best practices are adhered to.
  • Leads the implementation, and manages the onboarding, orientation and off boarding project plan and project deliverables, by providing oversight and guidance on the build-out of applicable processes and develop risk management plans as needed.
  • Maintains and continuously improves onboarding, orientation and off boarding through participant feedback, partner feedback, and leadership consultation.
  • Performs ongoing support for the purpose of monitoring, providing feedback, assisting with complex issues, resolving problems, and considering improvements.
  • Leads continuous improvement and check-in meetings with cross-functional work groups to gather feedback and advice on continuous improvement.
  • Develops and implements a variety of methods to collect feedback and ideas; maintains data integrity and draft annual action plans based on data.
  • Monitors, reviews, and identifies progress and gaps in the program; identifies where programs overlap with other IH initiatives and programs to enable alignment.
