Syndesus helps growth-focused U.S. companies tap into Canadian employment solutions – legally employing remote workers, recruiting software engineers, and sponsoring Canadian work visa for tech workers who cannot stay in the US due to work visa/immigration issues.

By “legally employing remote workers” in Canada for US and global companies, we are referring to the Professional Employer Organization (PEO) model, also known as Employer of Record (EOR). These companies use Syndesus’ PEO/EOR model because they want to legally employ workers in Canada and they do not have a Canadian subsidiary that can do so. They look to Syndesus to provide guidance on Canadian employment law and Canadian HR rules.

Path2Canada (a Syndesus owned subsidiary) is a tech-worker marketplace connecting U.S.-based immigrant tech workers seeking to leave the US with Canadian companies that can hire them and sponsor their Canadian work visas so they can permanently move to Canada.

Our founder and team are all also incredibly passionate about helping people and building the Canadian tech ecosystem:

  • We help US and global companies tap into the Canadian tech talent
  • We help immigrant tech workers who want to leave the US find a job with a Canadian tech company who will sponsor their Canadian work visa so they can build a life there.
  • We help Canadian tech companies access these US educated/US experienced immigrant tech workers who are seeking to move to Canada permanently.
  • We help immigrant tech workers who cannot stay in the US (due to expiration of their work visas) move their US job to Canada so they can be legally employed in Canada and build their life there.
  • We help Canadian tech workers get employed remotely and legally by US and global firms. This keeps them and their paychecks in Canada and reduces the “brain drain”.

Job Overview

We are hiring a Onboarding Specialist to join our team. We truly believe in the “Canadian Dream” and we advocate for the collaborative growth of the North American tech ecosystem. Our small team is located all over Canada and the United States. The ideal candidate will be responsible for dividing their time and responsibilities into 3 functions:

1. Onboarding new PEO employees

2. Customer support - answering questions related to PEO employees including benefits administration

3. Special Projects

Responsibilities

This role will focus on employee experience of the PEO business. Owning the administrative part of the new hire process: pre-boarding, onboarding, benefits administration, setting up training, etc.:

  • Creating, updating, and maintaining employee records (in an HRIS)
  • High level of organization and ability to juggle multiple priorities and task on hand
  • Accountable for all tasks related to pre-boarding and onboarding of employees, i.e. triaging and answering inquiries, educating them with information and creating an awareness on the topic
  • The onboarding specialist will work on multiple systems, so ensuring data integrity across the systems is crucial
  • Administering employee benefits plans
  • Gain knowledge on company policy and payroll systems and answer queries
  • Onboarding employees – guide employee to training and company policies, ensure the necessary paperwork and forms are completed
  • Tracking benefit plans (healthcare, retirement, etc.)
  • Pre-boarding will include gathering new hire information, clarifications on ambiguous client inputs, drafting employment contracts, answering questions/inquiries related to contract
  • Answering all HR-related queries and request
  • Schedule and organize new hire orientation/training
  • Knowledge of Canadian employment and provincial laws is preferred
  • Reconciling benefits statements
  • Have a customer centric mindset - Ability to empathize with the needs of the new employees and guide them according to their requirements

Qualifications

  • Detailed-oriented with a willingness to own problems through to resolution
  • Willing to work remote
  • High level of organization and ability to juggle multiple priorities and task on hand
  • Possess superior communication skills
  • Independent thinker that can learn new things quickly, Self-starter
  • 3+ yrs professional onboarding experience preferably in PEO, EOR, or Staffing agency environment.
  • Expertise with Office, Word, emails, slack, zoom meetings, etc.,
  • Knowledge of ticketing systems and triaging process preferred
  • Excellent time-management skills
