Mediabrands - Junior Business Intelligence Developer

Working in a specialized Operational team, the Junior BI Developer is responsible for providing reporting and data management support to Mediabrands clients. In this role, you will be responsible for leveraging Mediabrands data and related third-party datasets and transforming it into effective reporting solutions. Thisrole offers the chance to work with a wide variety of client teams, data & technical solutionsproviders, data sources and has a substantial internal support system.

The ideal candidate must have knowledge of SQL coding concepts, some ETL development and dashboard visualization experience. This role allows the ability to operate on both a strategic and tactical level, delving into data across many clients and brands.

You will participate in all aspects of the development process from initial meetings with clients and internal teams, to gathering and processing data from various sources, to utilizing a suite of database and BI tools, including but not limited to Microsoft SQL Server stack, Datorama, Tableau, Adverity, and to finally building interactive dashboards.

Key Responsibilities

• Possess basic knowledge and some experience with SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) and use Visual Studio to create sophisticated ETL processes.
• Assist senior technical leads with ensuring tools, database objects and processes organization follow best practices and function according to relevant framework.
• With guidance from senior developers on the team, extract, transform and load media data from various sources into MS SQL database.
• Understand project requirements and transform them into technical solutions and documentation.
• Apply academic knowledge of SQL development best practices to create and modify existing solutions utilizing Stored Procedures, CTEs, user-defined functions, etc.
• Collaborate with project management leads to complete tasks to spec and on schedule.
• Use project tools like SharePoint and Asana to efficiently keep track of tasks, documents and communicate with project stakeholders.
• Initiate, develop and maintain excellent relationships with agency and SBU teams within Mediabrands Canada to drive strong client support and superior service.
• Learn and participate in day to day maintenance of processes, making sure jobs and tasks run as expected and flag any issues.
• Quickly learn to assess media data provided, to assure high quality and high usability.
• Utilize moderate level of expertise in Tableau Desktop to create and modify interactive dashboards and visualizations, applying design best practices, including parameters, LODs, analytical tools, etc.

Desired Skills & Experience

• Ability to work and communicate effectively with developers and Business users.
• Good understanding of concepts and some experience with SQL, data modeling, ETL development, and data warehousing.
• Data visualization experience, preferably using Tableau or similar.
• 1 or more years of experience working with data transformation and analysis, using SQL, BI tools and visualization instruments.
• Prior experience working with media data, business insights, programmatic media, ad serving platforms, media agencies, trading desks is an asset.
• BA/BS in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field.
• Strong verbal/written communication and data presentation skills.
