Air Canada, recognized as one of Canada’s top diversity employers and one of Montreal’s top employers, is seeking a Manager of Supplier Relationship Management (SRM), who will be based at our Montreal Headquarters.
The SRM function plays a key role in supporting the Corporate and Commercial organization by managing the overall performance of suppliers, building strong relationships with key partners and mitigating risks to gain increased value from Air Canada’s supplier landscape. Given the cross-functional nature of SRM at Air Canada, this opportunity will provide interactions with key stakeholders in many parts of the organization.
The successful candidate will apply a passion for leadership and collaboration to obtain the best value for the airline and develop mutually beneficial relationships with suppliers.
Responsibilities
The Manager, SRM (Corporate and Commercial) will manage strategic agreements and relationships with partners that provide services within the Corporate and Commercial business segments. In this role, responsibilities will include activities such as partnering with various internal business units to better understand and manage the supplier landscape, interpret and enforce contracts, elevate supplier relationships to a strategic partnership level, and contribute to the overall improvement of SRM practices at Air Canada.
In greater detail, key areas of responsibility include the following:
  • Track service level credits, earn backs, risk/reward models and any other commercial agreements
  • Align SLAs, KPI’s and KRI’s with business strategy and operational execution
  • Monitor partner supply and delivery risks
  • Conduct supply market research and baseline spend analysis
  • Provide insights into procurement strategy based on performance
  • Spend Management
  • Work with cross-functional teams to determine business requirements and establish sourcing strategies
  • Continuously monitor, assess and report performance metrics
  • Support sourcing initiatives and the standard corporate procurement process
  • Relationship Management
  • Review achievement of performance goals and objectives against supplier contracts
  • Define parameters for invoice validation against the contract
  • Use contract knowledge and expertise to support enhanced delivery
  • Manage contract disputes and interpretation procedures
  • Manage several complex and large-scale sourcing initiatives
  • Stay abreast of the business unit strategy through collaboration with the department and other business units
  • Contract Management
  • Develop analysis providing spend insight trends and opportunities
  • Schedule and conduct internal & external annual contract reviews, and develop improvement action plans
  • Track contract deliverables & obligations
  • Performance Management
  • Formulate procurement strategies by evaluating markets and suppliers through qualitative and quantitative criteria
  • Lead core governance meetings
  • Maintain commercial provision summary
  • Recommend performance improvement opportunities with partners and internal service owners
  • Monitor internal customer satisfaction
  • Maintains effective relationships across the client and supplier organizations and facilitates issue resolution
  • Develop supplier strategy based on supplier segmentation, performance outcomes, relationship, and cost objectives
  • Identify synergies with other vendors
  • Create a collaborative environment to identify capabilities
  • Calculate and validate cost of living adjustments (COLA) provisions
Qualifications
In addition to a University degree in a relevant field of study (commerce, law, engineering, supply chain), the successful candidate will demonstrate excellent analytical, communication, negotiation, and project management skills plus the ability to multi-task, work under pressure, and accommodate changing priorities. A strong entrepreneurial spirit and desire to learn will also be essential. Strong organizational skills are essential and an MBA or relevant professional designation is desirable.
Due to the confidential nature of the work, a high degree of professionalism and discretion is required. Flexibility with work hours and occasional travel may also be necessary.
