Mohawk College is currently recruiting for our next


Manager, Marketing and Media Strategy


The Manager, Marketing and Media Strategy will manage the development, tracking, reporting, analysis and optimization of all media plans/buys across all media channels including broadcast, print, digital, social and out-of-home. The incumbent will assist in meeting the overall College Strategic Enrolment Management (SEM) activities and targets.


The incumbent will assist with planning and developing general marketing initiatives, annual recruitment and specialized campaigns, lead generation activities, and content development across multiple platforms. The incumbent will provide advice on use of marketing budget media funds.


The incumbent will assist in the development of marketing assets, social media activities, and web recruitment activities. The position will focus on the development of the student market (full-time and part-time) and will formulate the strategy to support growth across all demographics. The incumbent will lead the development of SEO-focused website content to drive recruitment traffic to programs, services, faculty, students, and why Mohawk features.


The incumbent will be required to align all activities to the existing Marketing strategy as well as the overall College strategic plans. The incumbent will manage the day-to-day work of the Marketing team.


Responsibilities


The duties of this position include, but are not limited to:


Develop strategic media and lead generation plans that align with overall marketing and College objectives and enhance the volume and quality of student applications


  • Track, analyze results, and report on return on investment.
  • Work with various stakeholders to ensure all opportunities to generate leads are maximized, and develop content that supports recruitment initiatives and priorities.
  • Plan, negotiate, and buy all media purchases and oversee the media budget.
  • Work with internal stakeholders/clients including Academic, Registrar’s Office, Recruitment, and Corporate Reporting to present effective media plans and will use available data to assist in reaching the target audience. In addition, the incumbent will develop relationships with media partners to develop channels to reach prospective students, through traditional and non-traditional media.
  • Analyse and report on the results and effectiveness of all lead generation activities.
  • Guide marketing team members in the development of campaigns and media placement opportunities and will be required to provide ongoing updates of the effectiveness of the campaigns.
  • Source and develop various innovative marketing and promotional tactics and develop fully integrated media plans.


Guide content strategy and development


  • Collaborates with internal and external subject matter experts to produce timely and evergreen content.
  • Works collaboratively with the web team to plan, write and edit content for the Mohawk College website
  • Uses proven SEO techniques to enhance and improve website content to drive recruitment traffic to the Mohawk College website
  • Writes/edits/produces marketing content for the Mohawk College website, social media, video, and other promotion mediums.


Oversee on-going social media activities and related analytics


  • Provide guidance and support around activities and reporting tactics.
  • Monitor all social media activities and manage the work of the marketing team
  • Keep up with best practices and will share opportunities and make recommendations to the Marketing and Recruitment team and academic areas.


Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications


The successful candidate will have:


  • Prior management experience and training; ability to train and manage staff
  • Fluent in social media and online marketing techniques, including lead generation, email marketing campaigns and SEO
  • Excellent negotiation, persuasion and organizational skills
  • Minimum of seven years of work experience related to developing content and marketing media strategies, with some prior management experience. Experience in a post-secondary education or advertising agency setting is an asset.
  • Budget and operations management
  • Understands the value and role of content; ability to write, produce and align content with marketing and recruitment activities, campaigns and initiatives across all platforms
  • Advanced computer knowledge in MS Word, Excel, Power point, Access, Millennium, Internet research and email correspondence
  • A minimum of a three-year post-secondary education in Marketing, Advertising, Business Administration/Management, Communications, Public Relations, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated commitment and understanding of human rights, equity, diversity and inclusion with the ability to communicate and work effectively with diverse groups of students, employees and the community.
  • Ability to plan and buy media campaigns across all channels; and ability to analyse and report on all media
  • High degree of problem solving, judgement and decision-making abilities required
  • Flexibility in working hours throughout the year is necessary to meet deadlines
  • Excellent customer service skills and client relationship building skills
