People are at the core of Capilano’s success and the Human Resources Department supports this success through the planning, development, implementation and management of a broad range of human resources services and strategies. These services span EDI, recruitment, development, well-being, compensation, classification and collective agreement negotiation and administration. Additionally, the HR Department provides oversight of employee engagement surveys, and works with managers and employees to help foster opportunities that enhance engagement.
The Manager, Learning & Development (L&D) reports to the VP, People, Culture and Diversity in the Human Resources Department. This position is responsible for the development, implementation, and administration of the University’s employee L&D programs and services. Examples of these initiatives include designing, proposing and delivering relevant programming that supports managers and senior leadership to foster employee development as it relates to the University’s long-term goals, as well as all required University-wide training. The Manager, L&D also leads and/or participates on special assignments, projects, and initiatives. This role is an 18 month assignment.
What You'll Bring:
- Completion of a Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- A minimum of three to five years experience as a facilitator, in Learning & Development role(s), or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Prior management experience preferred
- A minimum of three to five years experience working in a post-secondary institution and/or public sector organization is preferred
- Prior HR experience preferred
- Certification in a L&D or training & development program or related field is preferred
- Certification in one or more psychometrics (e.g., DiSC) or leadership program (e.g., Situational Leadership) preferred
Normal starting salary placement is between $83,799 – $111,732. This position is eligible for annual salary increases through participation in the University Performance and Development Program (PDP).Note that Capilano University also offers a competitive total rewards package (college pension plan, employer paid benefit premiums, health spending account, modified work week, remote working options etc).
