Manager – Enterprise Infrastructure Operations
Why join us?
We are looking for a highly motivated Manager of Enterprise Infrastructure Operations to join our Data & Technology team in Toronto. In this role, you will
  • Core products within your mandate include compute, storage, data protection, and disaster recovery operations.
  • Manage a team helping to develop, iterate, and operate a suite of core infrastructure products and services.
  • Identify and foster opportunities for learning, growth, and development of the team.
  • Help to source, evaluate, recommend and implement of a broad range of enterprise technology capabilities in support of our mandates.
  • Have full operational oversight and lifecycle management of product assets including Operating Systems (Windows Server, Linux,) storage and compute platforms.
  • Carry a customer-service mindset while interfacing and managing our working relationships with internal partners. Ensuring that we deliver products and services that meet the business needs with a high level of stability, efficiency, and confidence.
  • Contribute to developing strategies, backlogs, and roadmaps for our products. Striving to continuously improve our offerings, and adapting to the changing needs of our business partners.

As the manager of this team, you will be accountable for
  • Create a culture of collaboration, high-engagement, innovation, and customer focus with the team.
  • Management of all services and peripheral tools/technologies in support of the product mandate.
  • Partnering with internal audit and compliance team to develop and enforce controls, and to provide audit evidence in a timely manner.
  • Core products include but are not limited to
  • Identifying and actioning opportunities to evolve, modernize, and automate tools and/or processes.
  • Engagement with external vendors to manage operational contracts (licensing for OS, backup capacity)
  • Contributing to annual budget planning activities and managing operational budget items – including infrastructure capacity and licensing,
  • Designing and controlling processes and engagement model for your products.
  • Monitoring of all platforms, workload environments, and hosted applications.
  • Lifecycle management of core infrastructure components and assets.
  • Routine testing and auditing of restoration capability.
  • Full data protection lifecycle configuration and operations (backup/restore/replication) for workloads. Technologies include Dell Avamar, Data Domain, and cloud-native protection services.
  • Work with platform architect and engineers to provide the voice of the customer. Help to guide roadmaps and backlogs for enhanced capabilities - improving value our businesses.
  • Capacity management and reporting of compute and storage infrastructure. Working with our partners to forecast future needs as part of annual financial planning activities.
  • Provisioning and access management of File assets
  • Ownership and managing break-fix activities and incidents end-to-end – including engaging with other internal teams, vendors, and service providers as appropriate.
  • Compliance and Reporting activities.
  • Operational participation and execution accountabilities in vulnerability management and other lifecycle programs – including routine patching exercises and penetration testing.
  • Managing and forecasting capacity on our platforms, helping to define requirements and leading remediation when necessary.
  • Monitoring and reporting on KPIs for workload and product metrics.
  • Develop, own and operate the core suite of products and services under the team’s mandate including compute, storage, data protection, and disaster recovery pillars.
  • Full lifecycle management of workload operating systems with a focus on Microsoft Window Server and RHEL.
  • Maintaining relationships with internal customers throughout the organization to ensure we are meeting their needs both present and future.
  • File Services (File VMs, NAS Virtual Filers, NFS/CIFS share management, DFS, SFTP, Azure Files, Azure NetApp, etc.)
To succeed in this role, you have
  • Ability to run effective meetings driving value-added outcomes.

  • Highly self-motivated with a keen eye for detail.
  • Ability to understand assess and prioritize business requirements.
  • High level of expertise and experience in Communication (verbal & written.)
  • Continuous improvement mindset, always looking for opportunities to iterate and improve.
  • 10 years of IT Operations experience, with a focus on server, storage, and virtualization platforms.
  • Strong leadership capabilities, ability to motivate and direct a team.
  • 5 years of IT management experience.
  • 5 years of enterprise level IT Service Management experience.
