Key Job Requirements:
- Testing of systems, optimization and programming modifications and upgrade of existing PLC systems as required.
- A major contributor to the continued development of both the current and newly purchased equipment and systems as they are upgraded.
- Test equipment and components for continuity, current voltage and resistance.
- Comply with all ISO and quality-related policies, procedures and system requirements.
- Maintains a clean, organized and safe work area by complying with documentation, procedural and applicable regulatory requirements (such as safety, environmental and housekeeping).
- Ensure a safe work environment by following all safety and ergonomic rules, including any special personal protective equipment (PPE) and standard operating procedures (SOPs) applying to a particular process or area.
- Replace defective equipment parts, then set specified clearances and adjust the alignment of moving and stationary parts using hand and power tools.
- Ability to lead, train, communicate and motivate team members under normal conditions as well as during times of high-pressure situations due to system failures.
- Interpret, install, and modify control systems, including programmable controllers and drives.
- Troubleshoot/diagnose equipment-related malfunctioning (mechanical and electrical) and be able to use their expertise to identify the cause of the problem and take permanent corrective actions.
- Implement preventive maintenance programs, perform routine maintenance on all equipment and keep maintenance records.
- Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, schematics, electrical code specifications and manufacturer’s manual to determine installation requirements and layout of industrial electrical equipment.
- Maintenance, modification, troubleshooting, and repair of a wide variety of challenging electronic and electro-mechanical systems in a manufacturing environment.
- Monitor and approve maintenance and repair work performed by outside vendors.
Skills, Qualifications and Experience Required:
- Must have some flexibility on work hours to support the plant as required.
- High comfort level working in a fast-paced team environment that is constantly changing.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- 7+ years’ experience in an Industrial Maintenance Technician position.
- Proven ability to communicate effectively with contractors who perform maintenance or upgrade work on facility systems and equipment.
- Excellent understanding of electrical and mechanical systems, including power feeders, transformers, AC/DC drives, PLCs, UPS systems, compressors, servo motors, etc.
- Ability to learn quickly and address issues arising during regular working hours or on-call.
- Window manufacturing industry experience is a plus
- Demonstrated skills in troubleshooting and repairs of automated equipment, PLCs, and HMIs.
- Experience with troubleshooting control systems ranging from relay logic to microprocessor-based controls.
- Certified Red Seal Electrician or Journeyman with Industrial Electrical experience
- Ability to measure voltage and current accurately and safely and to use this data to troubleshoot and repair accordingly.
- Knowledge of Preventative Maintenance, CMMS, Mechanical/Electrical systems and quality control systems within a manufacturing environment.
- Attention to detail and the ability to multi-task.
- Troubleshooting abilities to analyze problems and provide solutions.
- Proficient in the use of hand and power tools.

- Clear criminal background check.
Working Conditions
- Requires extended periods of sitting and using the telephone.
- Work primarily in a production facility. Most work is indoors.
- Move around the plant, maneuver products, and gather information.
- Doors are frequently open, causing drafts and interior temperature changes.
- Passing forklifts emit gas fumes.
- Floors in the work area may be slippery during wet weather conditions, have cracks and be uneven.
- Physically able to lift between 0 lbs. to 50 lbs.
- The plant environment can be dusty and noisy.
- Tools, supplies and chemicals may contain hazardous materials and emit unpleasant odours.
