Job Description

Airswift has been tasked by one of our major clients to seek a Lab Technician to join them on a 6-month contract to work in Fort McMurray, AB on a 7/7 rotation.


Accountabilities / Responsibilities:

  • Report any safety issues that come up and help contribute to ideas for avoiding accidents
  • Record all maintenance, adjustments, and calibration activities.
  • Receive and login samples into LIMS (Sample Manager).
  • Support compliance stakeholder through rapid turnaround on surface water samples.
  • Perform routine instrument maintenance.
  • Data entry into LIMS (Sample Manager).
  • Look for and lead efforts to improve processes and procedures.
  • Perform QC/QA checks according to established methodology, CTQ, and QMS.
  • Ensure proper safety protocols are in place and in practice when performing duties.
  • Ensure to have a thorough knowledge of testing procedures and instruments.
  • Responsible for consumable ordering and restocking; ensure supplies are kept up to date.
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of applicable prescribed software and programs.
  • Enter notes on QC/QA charts when appropriate, e.g., using a new Lot of standards.
  • Support lab operation, safety, and environmental systems.
  • Support stake holders on projects, R&D, and operations optimization.
  • Assist with the training process by helping cross-train co-workers.
  • Ensure that proper documentation such as routine QA/QC is properly maintained.
  • Perform routine and non-routine physical analysis.
  • Ensure lab activities are completed and documented on a regular basis.
  • Maintain both Operations satellite labs as well as the Main Lab by ensuring instruments are calibrated and chemical inventory is stocked.
  • Ensure protocol on lab supplies is followed.
  • Support compliance stakeholder via record keeping of the volumes of water pumped.
  • Perform routine and non-routine chemical analysis.
  • Identify issues that impact safety, environment and/or production.
  • Support Coordinator, Lab on projects and operation optimization

Required:

  • Valid drivers license
  • 1+ years lab experience (or new grad)
  • University science degree or technical diploma in Chemical Technology

Would be an Asset:

  • Water testing experience
  • Exposure to SAGD lab instrumentation
  • ISO/IEC 17025:2005 knowledge
  • Petroleum Laboratory Experience
