Job Description
SAIT’s Applied Research and Innovation Services department helps partners conceptualize, prototype and deliver products to market. ARIS is on the leading edge of novel technology development. As one of Canada’s top applied-research colleges, SAIT has 50,000 square feet of specialized research labs, facilities, and full-time research staff who are solely dedicated to providing the services organizations need to take their products from concept to prototype.


The Opportunity


The work requires the application of technical knowledge or skills, learned on the job, in performing simple tests, preparing simple media and using simple scientific equipment. Procedures are standard and after initial training, work is performed independently with new or unusual situations being referred for advice and direction.


The Role


  • Design and build simple laboratory apparatuses
  • Works with field personnel to handle project issues as they arise
  • Maintain and repair laboratory equipment
  • Performs other duties as required
  • Design, build, and test simple prototypes
  • Writes and edits scientific publications and reports
  • Maintains an inventory of materials
  • Prepares research grants
  • Assists in documenting project phases and creating summary reports
  • Assists in the preparation for laboratory tests and procedures


Qualifications & Experience


  • Demonstrated understanding of project coordination concepts
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Can work independently while being a team player
  • Post-secondary degree with relevant research experience
