Job Description

Bowron Environmental Group ("Bowron") is a multi-disciplinary environmental consulting company focused on providing related services to the Canadian oil and gas sector. We specialize in regulatory permitting and land-use planning, construction field support, drilling waste management, water management, compliance monitoring and asset retirement.

Our Environmental Services Division (ESD) is currently looking for a qualified individual to join our team as aLABORATORY FIELD TECHNICIAN.


This is a temporary position for six (6) months, although may be extended. Students returning to school in September may also apply.

This is an entry-level field placement located near Abbotsford, British Columbia.


Responsibilities will include:

  • Assist in calibrating laboratory instruments.
  • Collecting samples daily from project worksites.
  • Routine maintenance, troubleshooting and addressing minor repairs to laboratory equipment as required.
  • Performing basic analytical tests in a mobile laboratory setting.
  • Recording analytical results with a high degree of accuracy.


This testing facility will be in operation 24 hours a day; with two twelve (12) hour shifts. Each shift will require three (3) people.


Current schedule is projected as two weeks on, two weeks off, but is subject to change based on project requirements.


Successful candidates will be compensated well with a competitive day rate, living out allowance and mileage. An onsite vehicle will be provided.


Travel costs to and from the project location will be paid for staff not local to Abbotsford, BC.

REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS


  • Successful candidates will include those with strong knowledge in laboratory processes and a high aptitude for computer processing and data management.
  • Preference will be given to those who have completed (or are currently enrolled in) a post secondary education program that involves a laboratory setting (Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science, etc).


All candidates will be required to pass a Drug and Alcohol and complete necessary safety and operational training.
