Greater Vancouver Community Services Society is a multi-service non-profit organization supporting the independence and well-being of the elderly, people with disabilities, and others who require support to retain or regain health and autonomy. Since 1972, our mission at GVCSS has been to provide compassionate, effective and client-focused care that helps people retain their independence and remain living safely at home.
We are currently seeking a dedicated HR, Payroll & Benefits Administrator to play an integral role in enacting our mission and delivering support to all of the agencies programs.

What you’ll contribute:
·You will prepare and process bi-monthly full cycle payroll for Community Living union employees (approx. 140 employees per pay period) following collective bargaining agreements, producing and issuing pay slips, and printing / issuing related reports and journal entries from the payroll system.
·You will be responsible for the administration of union employee benefit plans from enrollment through termination, including benefit collections, liaising with benefit carriers and processing JCBT/HBT benefits report submission, premium payments and reconciling benefits monthly payment balances.
·You will prepare and process statutory remittances and reporting, such as Worksafe BC, Union Dues and MPP.
·You will prepare, reconcile and process reports, such as Community Living employees' T4s and ROEs, quarter and annual WCB, MPPs and any other government returns, as needed.
·You will process Community Living employees' expense reimbursements through the payroll system.
·You will respond to payroll inquiries such as email and in person from employees, managers, WCB, ICBC and other government agencies, employment verification and employee earnings by phone, collective agreement interpretation etc.
·You will gather supporting information required for year-end and payroll audits.
·You will act as back-up payroll processor for the Home Support department if the Payroll Administrator is on leave such as vacation or sick etc.
·You will play a lead role in organizing social events including but not limited to, holiday party, recognition luncheon, summer BBQ, and other team building get - togethers for employees
·You will update staff information in HR system (address, banking, status changes), electronic onboarding/off boarding.
·You will create, distribute and summarize results for annual employee survey for the leadership team.
·You will ensure confidential HR employee files are maintained and scan terminated files for electronic storage.
·You will follow agency safe work policies, procedures and reports any hazards in the workplace.
·You will complete other duties as required to support the Payroll and HR team.
Our ideal candidate has:
·3 years of payroll and benefits administration experience (union payroll experience is an asset).
·Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) is preferred. Willing to start or in progress to complete also accepted or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
·Understanding of Canadian Payroll Legislation and willingness to keep up to date.
·Diploma in a recognized Human Resources Management program supplemented with 6 months recent Human Resources experience administering benefits.
·Previous work experience in payroll processing and assisting in annual audit is an asset.
·Great time management skills and ability to meet tight and competing deadlines.
·Proven ability to perform assigned functions with diligence and superior accuracy.
·Proficient problem solving and analytical skills.
·Must be able to work independently and in a team, and adaptable to changing work environment.
·Ability to communicate professionally and effectively verbally and in writing.
·Advanced computer skills including Excel skills such as VLookUp and Pivot Tables
·Experience with Payroll Software (Comvida EMS and Comvida payroll experience is an asset)
